Yet another relentless con artist, supposedly representing Vodafone. Regrettably, I wasn't in possession of my whistle at the time!

Got a call from some unknown number claiming my bank account was charged £900 and telling me to "press one to get help". I looked at my account and there was nothing like that. Total rubbish. I’ve blocked the number and reported it straight away. Watch out for these scammers!

Today, at about 11:33, I got a call from this number saying there was a 900-pound charge on my Amazon visa card. They wanted me to complete some kind of form on my phone or computer, but I said no at both. I told them to send the information through the post so I can sort it with my credit provider and alert the police. Then, the line just went dead. Calls like this are really unsettling and stressing. I’m planning to stop all my online transactions now and report this to Action Fraud by texting the number 7266.

Got calls from this number twice today. I usually don't answer unless I know who it is, cos most unfamiliar calls tend to be scams. I never return these calls either. If it’s important, they’ll drop a voicemail. Also, if you get any dodgy texts, forward them to 7726.

Had a call from some people claiming to be from a company wanting my bank info, but do NOT trust anything they say, they're just trying to scam you. The company names they give are fake, no real business behind it. If we all just block or ignore, they can't steal any cash. They hide their real number for a reason, so if the number begins with +44, it’s likely a robocall, not a regular landline. Make sure to report these scams to phishing.gov.uk or text DALL to 7726. Stay safe and don’t fall for it!

I had a look for life is a scam and saw a warning on the FCA website telling people it’s not a licensed company. They said don’t get involved with them cause it’s just a scam. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Who owns this number? AQL Wholesale Ltd seems to be behind it. They’re apparently a company that deals with phone numbers, but mostly they sell them on to scammers for ripping people off. They distribute both mobile and landline numbers, and then hand out lists of live numbers for scammers to ring up. So, if you get a call from a VoIP number they sold, it means your number’s probably on one of their target lists.

A few days back I got a call from a number up in Northern Ireland. The caller said her name was Angelina and mentioned something about Indians. I rang the number again later but now it’s blocked! She kept saying she was from a mobile network, but it definitely wasn’t the provider I use.

I got a call that seemed to come through the internet from somewhere like India or Pakistan, sounded like a proper bank scam. I just blocked it straight away and sent a text saying "call" to 7726 to report it. Definitely do the same if you get a call like that!

After telling her to quit, a woman named ‘Lisa’ who claimed to be from ‘Insurance Review’ kept ringing me from various numbers. Honestly, it was really annoying and felt quite harrassing.

I received a rather dubious call from a woman claiming she was representing a life insurance firm, stating that I had an existing policy that required attention. When I requested that any correspondence be sent to me via post, she insisted on discussing my details over the phone. Eventually, she disconnected the call. Quite fishy, if you ask me!

Got calls from some dodgy numbers lately: +44 1422 401307, +44 161 850 9244, and +44 1707 830822. All said they were from this fake firm called Policy Direct. As soon as I told the first one to jog on, more rang within minutes. Blocked every single one straight away. Looks like a proper little scam operation.

Totally a con, pretending they’re from some bank PPI scheme claiming I’m owed £2550 plus £1550 interest. When I threw them off by saying my bank was the "Bank of Paris" (which isn’t even real), they didn’t catch on. They then gave me some reference and ID numbers, assuring me they’d never ask for bank or card details, and said the money was waiting in a digital wallet or something. Then they handed me over to another bloke with an Asian accent. He wanted the ref and ID numbers again, so I fed him fake ones, which confused him. After that, he asked for my phone number to verify the details, gave me a different set of ID and ref numbers, saying these were correct. He then said I wasn’t very tech savvy and offered to help get into the wallet. Then he told me to put the phone on loudspeaker (which felt odd) and download an app called "AnyDesk" from the Play Store. That app would give them remote control of my phone to swipe bank info, personal data, passwords, all that. Absolute slimeballs, these need to be shut down. Definitely handed this over to the police, FCA - this is serious phishing and fraud.

Got a call from some dodgy folks claiming to be from a bank, asking for my details. Don’t trust anything these scammers say, they’re just out to steal your cash. The company they mention doesn’t even exist. If you just ignore the call, they can’t get hold of your money. They hide their real number for a reason! If the phone number starts with +44, it’s definitely not a proper landline, probably a computer-generated call. Make sure to report it at phishing.gov.uk, or you can text DALL to 7726 to help out. Stay safe, folks!

If you want to do your bit to block these scam calls and dodgy texts, you’ve got to start REPORTING them! Got a nasty or scammy email? Take a screenshot and send it over to ‘[email protected]’. Scam texts? Forward those to ‘7726’ straight away. Seriously, don’t click on any sketchy links - they might load malware onto your phone or computer. If you get a dodgy call, text the word CALL to ‘7726’ with the number and what happened; this helps flag the number across mobile networks. Also, don’t just moan, write to your local MP about it - they need to know. If you accidentally gave scammers your bank info, ring your bank right away, then report it to ‘Action Fraud’, followed by forwarding the details to ‘7726’, and sharing your experience on here. For more help, look up ‘Action Fraud’ and visit the ‘police.uk’ website. Oh, and never ring back any number you don’t recognise! Cheers, Anon 13

I’m pretty sure AQL Wholesale Limited is behind this number. They’re a business that deals in phone numbers, but it seems like they mostly sell them to scammers. Basically, they provide either landline or mobile numbers and then share a list of currently used ones for calling. So if you’ve had a call from a VoIP number linked to them, it means your number’s probably on their contact list.

Got two calls from this number today. I usually don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t know because most of the time it’s a scam. I never bother returning the call either. If it’s something important, they’ll leave a voicemail. Also, if you get any dodgy texts, make sure to report them to 7726.
