My mate got a couple of calls from this number yesterday. The voicemail was really faint but mentioned something about a lawsuit against her. I tried calling back, the number looked like it was from Manchester. When I rang, there wasn’t any answer, but the ringing sounded a bit weird, like it stopped and played a recorded ring tone. Could be one of those tricks where calling back might cost you loads if it’s a premium rate number. Watch out for this!

Just got a call not long ago from a lady with a foreign accent saying HMRC had taken legal action against me. She kept asking for my name, so I told her if they’ve already got a writ, they should have my name on record. I said they must send me something in writing. Then she warned the police would be at my door soon. What a load of nonsense!! Don’t let these scammers frighten you, it’s all a scam.

Yesterday I got a call just like that, and stupidly I pressed 1. Then this person started firing off loads of questions and a big speech about me owing HMRC a bunch of money. They said if I didn’t pay up, I might lose my driving licence, have my bank account frozen, get prosecuted, and end up in court. And if I lost, it'd cost even more money. Luckily, before they asked how I was gonna pay or asked for my bank info, my husband grabbed the phone and told them off pretty sharpish.
