I've been getting these annoying calls that sound like they’re from HMRC but it's just some automated voice. It only gives you a single choice to press '1', which isn't really a choice at all. The best thing is to just wait until they finish talking and hang up without pressing anything. They keep calling from various numbers, and one I remember got through on 26 July 2018 at 9:53 AM and another on 24 July 2018 around 6 PM. It’s a total nuisance and honestly, they should be stopped or punished.

I used 1471 and called the number back, but the line was really poor. Then they phoned me again, like some others mentioned. They said the police had a warrant for me and even gave me some sort of arrest number. When I said I was going to hang up and contact the police myself, they warned that doing that would actually cause me to be arrested 'cause it would trigger the warrant. The police told me afterwards it’s just a scam.

Just like others here, I dialed 1471 and when I called the number, the line was patchy. Then, they called me back and told me there was a warrant out for my arrest. They even gave me some sort of arrest reference number. I told them I was going to hang up and ring the police myself, but they said if I did, they'd come after me for activating the warrant. The police later confirmed to me that it’s definitely a scam.
