The person on the line, calling himself “Marcus”, seemed to already know my name and where I live. He asked if my house had ever had loft insulation fitted, either privately or through some government programme. Straight away, I thought this sounded dodgy. I replied yes, then he went on to ask if I wanted the insulation checked for damp problems. I told him politely that wasn’t necessary, then hung up.
