If I don’t recognise the number, I just ignore the call straight away. I’ve started blocking them and reporting as spam too.

Given the dubious nature of the chap's claims, I can't help but think this number is a ruse. He mentioned he was reaching out as an agent of Carphone Warehouse to tempt me with a deal for a discounted SIM card. Quite fishy, if you ask me!

I thought I'd pop into a Carphone Warehouse to see if they'd be able to sort me out.

This number kept ringing me, said they were from some life insurance company. Seems like just another annoying sales call. They try to push you into signing up for stuff you don’t really need. Not sure who they really are, feels like one of those scammy telemarketers. Wouldn’t trust it if I were you.
