Some bloke rang, gave me his name and then said I owed money on my house. I told him I live here but don’t actually own it, then I just ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam.

I just dont get why these scam callers still get to ring us here. Ive had to block like 20 numbers from places like London, Manchester and Sunderland, and every time its someone called Chris according to the comments. I just dont pick up anymore, check who it is then block straight away. Honestly, if this keeps up, no one will ever answer their phones again and the phone companies might have to shut down the service.

Got a call from someone claiming to be my nearby energy provider. When I asked what company they were with, they just kept rattling on without giving a straight answer. I pressed again for the company name and then they abruptly hung up on me. The number wasn’t even from around here, so pretty sure it was a scam.

Got a call from someone named Chris, claiming to be my local energy advisor. This was the third time he's contacted me, each time from a different phone number. Oddly enough, he said he's nearby but the number showed as Manchester, and I live in Essex. I just told him to shut up and that he's a scammer who’s been reported and blocked.

Just a heads up - watch out for those heat pump deals from multi energy companies. I nearly got caught up in a dodgy sales pitch the other day. They made it sound all brilliant, but it felt like one of those scams where they just want your money. Definitely be careful if you’re thinking about getting one!

Today, on the 8th of November 2024, I received a call about having insulation put in my loft and a home inspection.

I’ve never had any contact with them before but somehow they managed to take £312.98 out of my bank account yesterday. It’s the weekend too, so no clue how to sort this out right now.

They called me loads of times trying to push life insurance on me even though I already have it. Kept saying theirs was better and then started asking really personal stuff like why I have life insurance, how big my mortgage is and how long it’s for. When I said no to everything she kept getting more and more pushy, saying things like everyone signs up late and that’s why they moan afterwards. Proper aggitating!

Sadly, we can't report scams directly through the police's 'action fraud' site anymore - they've shut down that service, probably to save money. If you’re annoyed about that, maybe let your MP know! You can still send screenshots of scam messages to the cybercrime team via email at '[email protected]' and also forward them to 7726.
