Got this call a couple of times this week. At first, I was a bit worried about what they were saying, but then I figured out it was just a scam. Didn’t bother answering back.

all our home phone numbers are on the tps list. despite this, a few times we've had calls from a bloke with an english accent, asking if we could take part in a market survey. we said no thanks, ended the chat, and put the phone down. shortly after, we got the fake hrmc automated message mentioned earlier. i told my family it was a scam, but i can see how older or vulnerable folks might get really upset by a call like that.

Got a call from a bloke who spoke really clearly, saying HMRC was about to sue me. Didn’t want to get caught up in that, so I just ended the call straight away. Obviously, it’s a scam. Then, not long after, I got an email telling me I had a tax refund and to click a link to claim it. HMRC never phone or email you like that. It’s all a bit dodgy, especially since I already gave them all my info when I got a refund a couple of months back.

My grandad got tricked by these scammers today, they managed to get £1800 in iTunes vouchers off him. Really hope everyone can warn their older or vulnerable relatives not to fall for this! Also, the number they used was 0203 332 1004 - watch out for it!

I got a call from a man with an Asian or African accent who sounded quite aggressive. He claimed to be from HMRC and said they were building a case against me. I kept quiet at first and asked him to provide his company information instead. After that, there was just silence, then he told me to press 1 for more details. Total scam. It's really upsetting for someone in their 70s, like me, to get such a scary call!
