My elderly mother, who is 90, received a phone call from this number claiming to be from HMRC. They asserted that they had been trying to locate her due to a lawsuit filed against her. She wisely chose not to engage with the options provided or call back, but the incident left her quite distressed. Despite having registered her phone number with the Telephone Preference Service multiple times, the relentless stream of sales calls continues unabated. Action Fraud did send an automatic reply to my email, informing me that they aim to address queries within a rather lengthy 15-day window.

Got a recorded call claiming HMRC's taken me to court, told to press 1 to speak with my case handler. The number showed a Manchester 0161 code but looked dodgy as BT’s caller ID flagged it as international. Used my CPR V202 call blocker to block it straight away. Definitely didn’t sound legit to me.

I got a call from a bloke with a deep voice, sounding as if it was some official HR from Macy or something. He said there's a court case against me and to press 1. I hung up straightaway, then did the 1471 to check the number back. Rang it again, asked the guy who picked up what company he was with, but the bloke just ended the call. At my age, 78, I really don’t need this sort of hassle.
