Got a missed call apparently from Manchester but no clue who it was. It definitely felt like some sort of cold call, so I just blocked the number straight away!

I was anticipating a call from someone in the Manchester region, which led me to break my usual rule of not picking up calls from unfamiliar numbers.

Turns out, they were keen to discuss life insurance. They had my name, though I suspect they sourced it from a CV I reluctantly posted online ages ago for the Department of Work and Pensions. The caller was exceedingly courteous, but I remain sceptical about their authenticity.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Aviva, and she started asking about my insurance policy and how much coverage I have. I said I felt uneasy sharing that info and thought it was a bit strange. Instead of clarifying, she got quite rude and just kept repeating that she’d already explained it was to confirm if my policy was suitable. When I mentioned I’d look up the number online to verify the company was genuine, she got annoyed and just ended the call abruptly.

Got a call from some woman about life insurance, seemed like a scam. She was asking for info to "confirm" our coverage. I said we're happy with what we have, my agent sorted it already. Even then, she kept pushing to assist! Told her again we're fine, no need for any help. Ended up blocking the number. Wouldn't bother picking up if I were you.

some bloke rang me saying he was from iv and legal & general, trying to get me to renew my life insurance for another 20 years. when i asked how he even got my info and told him i'd ring legal & general myself, he just hung up on me.

They said they were just verifying if my life insurance was current but wouldn’t tell me who the provider was. It felt dodgy to me since they were asking for loads of details about me but didn’t share anything themselves. Definitely seemed like a scam.

I keep getting calls from this number every single day, and honestly, it's so annoying how persistent they are! If it was something urgent or if I'd had any contact with them before, you'd think they'd leave a voicemail or something. I've blocked the number loads of times but somehow it just manages to ring through again. Really don't get it!

What a bunch of con artists! I opted not to answer their call. After that, I decided to disguise my caller ID and rang them back, claiming I’d received a missed call from their number. Since they couldn't trace my number, they outright claimed it was a case of mistaken identity. I've now put a permanent block on them!!
