Got a call from this number. The person claimed to be from a firm working on home heating and mentioned some project with the University of Huddersfield, probably trying to sound legit. I reckon they were looking to book an appointment with a so-called “consultant.” I always assume if a company cold-calls a number that’s on the TPS, it’s dodgy. I’ve had quite a few calls from similar numbers about different things before - like compensation claims for hearing damage and stuff.

Just received a call from this number - but I have a strict rule of never answering. It's simply the worst thing you could do, as it gives them confirmation that it’s a valid number, and before you know it, your details will be sold to the lowest of the low out there. This explains why you often hear nothing but silence on the line. I prefer to let it ring until they’ve had enough and hang up, then I use 1471 to jot down the number. A quick search online reveals what sort of dodginess is trying to invade my peace of mind. In my experience, about 95% or more of these calls fall into that category.
