Got a call from someone about claiming PPI. The guy was quite pushy and rude. I told him I’d already looked into it and wasn’t interested in using their service, but he just kept going on. Then he finished by saying it’s my loss, not his, and just hung up. What’s odd is they have both my mobile and landline numbers, and they’re both supposed to be ex-directory!

Can't say for sure if it was PPI related, but given what others have said, I’m happy to just block these nuisance calls without taking chances. Lately, I've been getting nonstop calls from this number about PPI. They said all their calls are recorded, so I told them because I'm on the TPS, they could be fined £50,000 for making unsolicited cold calls. I also mentioned to the woman that their PPI scams are way out of date - like three years behind the rest, and totally sunk like the Titanic. Then she insisted that I was the one who called them first, and they were just returning my call. I asked again if the call was being recorded for quality reasons, and when she confirmed it was, I lost it a bit. They seem to think we’re all mugs down here! Usually, I’m polite with cold call companies, telling them to remove my number nicely. But these lot were so aggressive and rude, it felt right to tell her to go take a hike and maybe call the Samaritans instead!

I told them I wasn’t comfortable continuing the call until I could confirm their legitimacy. I told them to send me a letter with their company details and registration number first, and only if I’m convinced they’re genuine would I consider answering any questions.

Today, I got a call on my mobile from someone claiming I could get PPI money back from my bank. I told them I’d be charging them £10 per second for the call, which made them put me on hold to speak to their manager. When I told the manager about the charges and asked for their billing address, he gave me a Newcastle postcode and address. I’m now checking if that address is genuine, and if it is, I’ll be sending them a bill for the £210 for the time they kept me on the phone. After that, they might even get a court summons to pay it. Seems like a clever way to get them to stop these annoying calls.
