I encountered a rather tenacious caller, clearly someone whose first language wasn't English. She somehow had my name and complete address at her fingertips but kept pressing me for my date of birth, which I flatly refused to provide. Claiming to be from Virgin Media, she was insisting on offering me a marvellous 35% discount! I told her I wasn't interested, but the only way to put an end to her relentless sales pitch was to simply hang up the phone!
