I wouldn’t exactly call it a scam, but it’s definitely a pushy sales call with a likely even more pushy follow-up visit. The products they sell tend to be cheap and installed badly. Having worked as a joiner for years, I’ve witnessed this plenty of times. If you’re thinking of getting loft insulation, best bet is to ask mates for suggestions and then gather a few quotes from different companies. Never ever buy anything from cold callers.

Some bloke called saying it was about the loft insulation we got done. He reckoned it was causing damp and offered a free survey or something. I told him I wasn’t bothered and hung up quick. He seemed well annoyed when I wasn’t interested. Would watch out for that one.
