I recently got a call from the number mentioned above, claiming to represent the Free Money Advice Centre located at 23 New Mount Street in Manchester. They said my details had been forwarded to them by Citizens Advice. While they did provide some convincing information over WhatsApp during the call, I couldn't find any record of their business at that address when I looked it up. I'm quite certain this is a scam!

Got a call from HMRC about some tax fraud. The automated voice was telling me there was suspicious activity on my account and I had to press 1 or face arrest. Didn’t seem right at all, so I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a random call from a number I don't recognise. I picked up and left the phone down without saying anything. A bloke with an Indian accent asked for someone kinda like me, but he got the first letter of my last name wrong on purpose, I reckon, sounded a bit cheeky. When I stayed silent, he muttered something in his language and hung up after about 16 seconds. Lovely fellow, hope he trips over a pavement stone on his way back or something.

Not sure if these lot will ever read this but seriously, stop ringing me. They claimed to be from some investigation team about a debt. When I asked which department or authority they were from, the bloke started swearing and getting all rude. Honestly, they're just trying to pressure you into admitting you owe money and sorting it out quick. They kept saying it was 'flagged on my credit report' but I've never had any debt. Don’t trust anyone who says that it's on your credit report - I really doubt they can even see it.

Got a call from an Indian bloke claiming he could sort out my debts? Said he was from citizens advice but what a load of rubbish. Then he goes and calls me a motherf##ker! If you get calls saying you owe money, ignore it - I don’t even have a credit card????? Total scam. Definitely not from Manchester, the 0161 number was just a front, safe to say they’re based in India. Don't trust this number at all.

My 90 year old grandad got a call saying he owed money. I grabbed the phone off him and when I asked where they got his number from, the guy started swearing at me and then just hung up. It was an Indian bloke on the line. The call came from a Manchester based number. Now my grandad is really shaken up. Honestly, avoid picking up these scammers at all costs!

I found it pretty simple to reach someone. I never felt like I was being left hanging for no reason. Whenever I rang, I got to speak to a real person straight away. It wasn’t like when I’ve dealt with others and just ended up with some robot or endless delays. They took the time to explain everything multiple times. They showed real understanding and even acknowledged the debt seasoning situation.

Raggz convinced me this was the right move, even though I was a bit hesitant at first. He explained things clearly enough so I could see it made sense. I was really drowning in debt and felt like I wasn’t making any progress despite paying regularly. It was just going back and forth, no real improvement. Then, I caught a mention of the Money Advice Service on the radio. I called them up and spoke with a guy named Ricky Rodgers for about 45 minutes. He was really helpful and clear about how everything works. I chose to go ahead with it because I realised I wouldn’t be able to use my credit cards anymore since the programme closes all the accounts. Got a call claiming to be from Citizens Advice saying I was in trouble over my credit card and that bailiffs were on their way, but they could help. When I told them that wasn’t right, the person just snapped, “So you want the bailiffs then?” I replied, “No way that’s happening,” and they hung up on me saying, “The fuckin phone, you slag.” Absolutely delightful, as you can imagine.

Constantly ringing but no response on my end... I sincerely hope they take the hint and go after someone a bit more naive than me!

Someone rang me saying they were from some “credit department” and that I supposedly owe money. When I told them to stop calling me, they said they couldn’t do that. I asked which company they represented, and they said it was the UK Financial Conduct Authority. But as soon as I told them I don’t owe anything, they just cut me off. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

I wasnt expecting the call at all, they rang me completely out of nowhere and asked some questions. At first I was a bit on edge, but it turned out they really do represent the Insolvency Practice. I reckon they act like mediators or something. Definitely no scam here - they seem legit. Props to them, trustworthy for sure!

Scam calls keep coming, so best thing to do is just block those numbers. Really annoying when they keep bothering you.

I received a call regarding a credit inquiry, claiming my father had provided them with my phone number. The strange thing is, my father passed away in 1977. I’ve since blocked them.
