Then he handed the phone over to the ‘boss’ who introduced himself as William. Turns out it was the same guy but trying out a dodgy accent. I reckon if I hadn’t hung up, next thing he’d be after my bank details. When I cottoned on to what I'd done, I rang my bank immediately and explained everything. I'm usually pretty careful about this kind of scam, but these lot were shockingly convincing. He started asking about my health, then transferred me to another Asian fella, who then passed me over to an insurance firm. They said I should get a life insurance policy.
