When I probed him further with a few questions, he snapped back, telling me to stop wasting his time or I'd be cut off from the internet. Honestly, his manner was appalling-so rude and aggressive! He insisted he was part of my tech support from Microwise and warned that if I didn’t play along, he'd ensure my information got flagged to Microsoft for being obstructive, leading to a shutdown. In the backdrop, I could discern what sounded like a call centre buzzing away. She informed me that there was an issue with my Microsoft Windows and urged me to sit at my computer to enter some codes that would supposedly rectify a problem I was entirely unaware of. When I requested her details, she abruptly disconnected the line, which I found rather dodgy. I’ve heard whispers about a scam of this nature that allows individuals to gain access to your computer after entering such codes. Not sure if this is related, but it certainly raised my eyebrows.
