Totally a scam, I picked up and at first it was dead quiet, then you could hear a call centre in the background. They’d dialled a business line and without missing a beat, started claiming I was due PPI compensation and asked for my full name. I told them to stop trying to con people, which didn’t go down well. Then I pointed out it was a business number, and the woman told me to F##K off before hanging up. Don’t trust this number or any call like this.

Some bloke called 'Robert' from Kennedy rang up saying I had a PPI refund, but when I tried to find out which firm it was for, he couldn’t give me a straight answer, even after I asked loads of times. First he said it was from an old mortgage, but when I told him that made no sense, he changed it to a Barclays loan. Then, when I questioned that too, he asked if I was Mrs Smith, told me I was wasting his time, and just hung up! Totally feels like a phishing scam to me.

It’s a total scam!! Just text the number and info about scam calls to 7726. Doing this helps mark the number as suspicious on your phone provider’s network, but it only works if loads of folks report it. Don’t send real numbers to 7726 though. Also, if you get scam texts, forward them there and snap a screenshot to email the cops at ‘[email protected]’ so they can look into it.

Someone phoned me on my private number, which is definitely on the TPS list. The person spoke with a strong Indian accent and said his name was Peter. He kept calling me “Sir” even though I’m a woman with quite a deep voice. He said he had all my details and that I was entitled to PPI refunds (I’ve dealt with those myself before and know there’s nothing left). When I asked what he knew about me, especially my name, he insisted he had all my info. I asked again for my name and then he abruptly ended the call. Pretty obvious scam.

I’ve just encountered a rather dodgy situation, to say the least.
