When I picked up, I could hear a couple of women chatting nearby, not speaking English though. I kept saying 'hello' a few times but no reply, so I ended the call. Then she called back, said something else in a foreign language, and then just ended the call. Blocked her number after that.

Got a call from some guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from MTA Solicitors in Manchester about a car crash. I just ended the call straight away. We’re on the TPS list but they still keep ringing!!

Got a call saying I was in an accident that wasnt my fault, so I humoured em a bit. But when he asked to confirm some info for data protection, I turned it round and asked him to prove who he was. Then he just told me to f##k off, twice! I recorded the call so if anyone fancies a chuckle, just give me a shout :)

Got a call about a car accident compensation, asking if I’d been in a crash in the last 3 years. I asked for more info about the crash but obviously didn’t have any. He said he couldn’t share due to data protection rules. I told him I’m the actual person so there’s no data to protect, and really it’s them sharing my info that’s breaking the law. Then he just hung up. The oddest part? He told me my car’s make, model, colour and registration. Don’t pick up these calls!

A guy with an ethnic accent rang me up asking about a car crash I never had. I played along and said yeah, I did. He got all hyped up and wanted to know when it happened, so I made up a random date. Then he started asking if anyone else was in the car, and I said yes, acting like they were badly injured. He wanted to know how many people, so I said five. After that, he just cut the call on me :-(

Loads of sketchy companies from India use this number to show up on your caller ID. It’s actually a VoIP line from a service named Gotalk, managed by a UK firm called Wavecrest Ltd. Basically, it lets folks make calls that look like they’re coming from a UK number, but they could be calling from pretty much anywhere globally, a bit like Skype.

A guy with a really strong Indian accent called me about an hour after I put up an ad on Gumtree. He claimed to be from the ‘Road Traffic Bureau’ and asked for information about an accident I apparently had. Got quite hostile when I told him I thought it was a con.

Got a call from some bloke with a Manchester number saying stuff about a crash I supposedly had with my car. Told him I never had any accident and just hung up. Then he called again asking if I was married and if I’d be his! Proper harassment if you ask me. I’ve blocked the number now. Pretty sure he got my details off Gumtree where I’m selling my car. They seriously need to keep your phone details safer. Don’t pick up if you get a call like that!

Got a call from this same number about a loan. I was actually looking for one and had filled in my info on a loan website. It was a bloke from India with a strong accent, pushing hard for me to pay £100 upfront to get a £1000 loan! Said he was from Quik Quid. I asked for an email or any proof it was really Quik Quid and they just disconnected. Total scam, watch out!

Some bloke with a thick accent, sounded Asian, rang me sayin' I was on some list for unpaid debts. I owe no one but my mortgage firm. He said his name was Peter Williams - right, as if! Told him straight up he was a scammer and just making it up. He chuckled, and I heard others laughing too. I've reported these muppets to the ICO. I'd recommend you do the same.
