The person on the phone had a really bad grasp of English, sounded like they were overseas and just following a script. They struggled with pronouncing a simple Christian name and told me about some PPI payout of £2800 from 2014. I bet if I'd carried on, they would've asked for my bank info to send the “refund” through.

Just got a new phone number that's not even on any register, it’s just one of those pay-as-you-go sims. So when this number popped up, there was zero info linked to it except for the digits themselves. Total scam, I reckon. Best thing is to just hang up straight away and block the bugger.

I received a voicemail suggesting that there was an ongoing investigation with HMRC linked to my name. The person had a British accent and came across as very convincing. However, when I tried to return the call, it either rang indefinitely or was busy. I decided to check with HMRC directly, and they confirmed that they would never reach out over the phone regarding such issues without first sending a letter. It turns out, the whole thing seems to be a scam.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from the tax department. They said there was an affidavit against me and asked if I’d got a lawyer sorted. Seemed like they just wanted to keep me on the phone, so I just ended the call.

Had a call just like this one, claiming it was from “HMRC” saying I’m under investigation and might go to court soon. Turns out HMRC wouldn’t ever ring you up like that, so it’s clearly a dodgy scam. Honestly, bet it’s just some bored lads messing about, maybe from a football fan group or something.

Got a call from 0161 818 7919 claiming to be HMRC, total scam. They had no idea who I was, didn’t even have my name or address. I’m just going to report it to Ofcom and let them deal with it. Typical dodgy phone scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying I was under investigation and would get arrested if I didn't ring back. On Monday, I got the same threat from a different number (02032901911) and I reported that one straight away. Didn't bother calling them back, it's obvious a scam so just watch out for this.
