I've been plagued by a series of silent calls from this number. Just a moment ago, I received another call and was greeted by a lady sporting a thick Manchester accent who claimed to represent a company called 'Versatile'. In the background, the familiar buzz of a call centre could be heard. When I mentioned I hadn't heard of them before, she insisted that the company was legitimate and operated out of Manchester. I cheekily remarked that her accent gave that away. She conceded, admitting to her Manchester roots. She proceeded to inform me that they were sanctioned by the Ministry of Justice, and that according to the National Credit Database, I had money owed to me from a credit agreement I'd supposedly taken out. I firmly told her to cease calling me and requested that my contact information be deleted from their records. I warned her that if they or anyone associated with this number dared to ring me again, I would not hesitate to notify the Information Commissioner and pursue a fine against them. I then ended the call. I've had this number registered with the Telephone Preference Service for over ten years now.

I rang the number back, and turns out it was one of those PPI calls :)

Received a call purporting to be from O2, stating that they wanted to reward my loyalty with a new phone. I didn't share any details with them as I found the whole thing rather dubious. Honestly, it feels like a blatant attempt to scam me. What a load of nonsense!

I received a call from this number, and the chap on the other end pretended to be from O2, my mobile provider. It was a load of rubbish, to be honest. He was trying to entice me with an offer of a 'free phone' as a thank you for being a loyal customer. When I questioned why on earth O2 would want to give me a new phone when my current one works just fine, he suggested I could simply 'flog it on eBay or something'. Honestly, I'm baffled by how these scams operate, but I didn't stick around for any more nonsense-hung up rather quickly!

Received a call from PPI regarding a grievance // blaring noise.

Every time I pick up the phone, the person on the other end disconnects without a word. They've been ringing me persistently over the past few weeks.

I can confirm that this number has absolutely no ties to Versatile Finance (PPI Claims). I took the initiative to contact Versatile directly to inquire about this dubious number and their purported services, and they had no record of it whatsoever. The representative I spoke to mentioned that while they do liaise with O2, The Carphone Warehouse, and handle PPI Claims, they have no dealings with BT or home insurance renewals. They assured me that they would investigate this suspicious number further. If you happen to have any information related to your experience, I’d recommend reaching out to Versatile Finance directly (you can find their contact details by doing a quick Google search), or alternatively, report these dodgy phone calls to either the ICO or the police. Interestingly, although Versatile Finance and this number seem to operate within the same vicinity in Manchester (near Princess Way and Deansgate), the representative’s astonishment at the nature of these unsolicited calls leads me to believe that there is no legitimate connection. It appears that a rogue outfit is misusing Versatile’s name and practices as a front. I strongly advise staying clear of this number. Should you happen to take a call from them, it might be wise to have a pen and paper handy to jot down everything they say and gather as much detail as possible to assist in tracking down these wrongdoers. Personally, I’ve been inundated with irksome and worrying calls for months, and I’m very cautious about sharing my number unless it’s with someone I trust. My phone rang from 0161 814 9905 and when I picked up, it was one of those auto messages telling me to press 1 if I want a refund for payment protection insurance, or 2 for something else. I didn’t trust it and quickly ended the call. Feels like if I’d pressed either option, I might’ve ended with a big bill for calls.

Just got a new phone with o2 this morning and already had three calls from these annoying people. Pretty sure there’s been a data breach at o2 because nobody else has my number.

I've been getting calls from this number quite a bit lately, including yesterday and today. It rings my mobile, which I mainly use for work and hardly share my number around. Honestly, it baffles me why OFCOM or the telecom providers can’t do more to investigate this or offer a proper way to block these calls without hitting you with those ridiculously high monthly fees. It’s surely annoying a lot of folks. I’m really curious where they're getting these phone numbers from - seems like either they’re harvesting them without permission or some supposedly legit companies are just selling them off. We deserve to know the truth.

This site is really handy. Lately loads of unknown numbers have been buzzing me, and I usually don't pick up if I don’t recognise them since my answerphone records messages. But I decided to look up one of those numbers here and turns out they were just folks wasting my time. As for all the spam emails, I fixed that by creating a separate email just for quotes and stuff. Last time I checked, that little email box had over 3,000 messages in a month - and the only ones with that address are businesses! It’s good to have a bit of control over this stuff. There was a lot of noise in the background, like a call centre. I told her I'd never come across that company before. She insisted it was a real firm based in Manchester. I joked that I guessed the accent gave that away. She confirmed it was indeed Mancunian. Then she told me they were regulated by the Ministry of Justice and claimed the National Credit Database showed I was owed money from a credit agreement I'd taken out. I told her: "Stop ringing me, remove my details from your system right now. If you or anyone calling from this number phones me again, I WILL report it to the Information Commissioner and get you fined." Then I ended the call. By the way, this number has been on the Telephone Preference Service list for over ten years.
