They purport to be the firm with which I hold a life insurance policy, but that’s absolutely not the case.

I usually don’t pick up if I don’t know the number, especially after getting a call from 0161 814 9359 earlier. Then this other number called too. Pretty sure it’s just spam.

There's someone posing as if they're affiliated with your life insurance provider, attempting to extract sensitive details from you.

I picked up the call but all I could hear was quiet on the other end.

Got a call on my mobile from a landline number, the bloke on the other end had a northern accent and kept asking for me by name. When I asked what it was about or which company he was with, he didn’t give any proper answers. I just ended the call, blocked the number and deleted it. I’m in southeast Kent, so no way I’d be needing anything from up in Manchester.

Received a call, but then they disconnected before I could pick up.

Goodness, what a laugh that was! I received a call whilst I was knee-deep in a Teams meeting, and I presumed it was the Manchester Metropolitan University, so I interrupted my call only for the line to go dead. Upon investigating the number, it turns out they’re some sort of insurance bunch, or so they claim. Naturally, I rang back to ask them to refrain from contacting me again. The chap on the other end accused me of being quite impolite - which was a bit rich, as I was simply expressing my wishes - and promptly hung up on me. Not one to be deterred, I tried again and ended up chatting with a fellow who felt the need to share his whole life saga, mentioning that his father runs a firm with 300 staff, yet he opts not to join the family business - an intriguing career decision, I’d say! He informed me this was only his second day on the job - hmmm, indeed. When I relayed my dissatisfaction, he rather cheekily suggested I seemed a bit flustered. In truth, I was thoroughly enjoying the exchange by that point! He then proceeded to instruct me on how customer service ought to function. I couldn’t help but reveal that I actually manage a department in that very field myself, to which he retorted with a “here we go,” and I must say, it tickled me. Eventually, he went on about how he was doing me a colossal favour by enrolling me in some teleblocking service, assuring me that I could potentially claim up to £20,000 if I received any cold calls in the future. I was genuinely taken aback by such a grand offer! Having had my fill of the banter, I bid him a polite farewell. However, on a serious note, I’d advise others to steer clear of these sorts - they’re quite the amateur hour, if you ask me!

I've been getting persistent calls from 0161 814 9358 while I’m at my workplace, which makes it quite tricky to pick up. Honestly, if it were something of significance, I reckon they would’ve left a voicemail by now. This is not the first time I’ve had to deal with it, so I’m definitely going to block this number.
