I just had a ring from 0161 814 8666 saying they were from HMRC about some tax dodging issue. At first, there was a robot voice telling me to press one and wait for someone or else I’d get arrested. I pressed one and eventually a man came on the line asking how he could help. I asked why he called me and then he just put the phone down straight away. Tried calling back but couldn’t reach anyone again. Very dodgy!

Just after six this evening, I got a call from an unfamiliar number (01613028217) and they said I’d supposedly called them earlier, but no one was around to take my (imaginary) call. Then they told me to ring a different number (01618148666) to get my (nonexistent) query sorted. It’s pretty clear this is a trick to catch anyone who rings back and try to scam them. I’ve left warnings on both numbers and would recommend everyone share the info to keep others safe.
