The bloke speaking had a really strong South African accent and kept saying he didn’t need my bank details (huge red flag). I told him I suspected it was a scam, and he asked why I thought that. Then I said he should contact my insurance instead, and he just cut me off. No surprises here, it was definitely a scam!

Got a call from a bloke with a South African accent about some accident supposedly in the past year and a half. I mentioned I'd actually been in an accident, so he put me through to another guy with a similar accent. This second fella questioned me about how long I was in hospital for. I said zero days, so then he tried to find out if I’d seen a doctor, gone to A&E, or taken any pain meds. I said no to all that, and then he just cut the call. Number’s blocked now.

I got a call from a bloke with a South African accent saying I’ve got a compensation payout waiting for a car crash I had about 14 months back. I wasn’t buying it, so he passed me onto his “manager,” who also spoke with the same accent. It’s total nonsense - the claim was sorted ages ago, the other driver’s fault, all done within two months. When I told him there was nothing to claim, he got a bit annoyed. I just calmly told him to remove my info from their records and not to ring me again.

Bloody scam about some insurance claim, I humoured them long enough to get chucked over to a "supervisor" then some "independent claims handler," but you could tell from the background noise they were all in the same place, probably some dodgy little shed. For a scam, it was surprisingly good. I kept them on the line for about 15 minutes, just messing around the entire time. Told them they could improve their act by not having loads of voices in the background pretending to be different firms.
