got a call today from someone claiming there’s a payout for a roadside assistance claim linked to my bank, they already had my name and address which is kinda scary. asked for my bank info but i wasn’t having any of it and just ended the call! really puts you on edge.

They wouldn’t say where they were calling from, just mentioned an engineer was coming to check if my boiler met government regulations. When I told them I’d just had a new boiler fitted and asked to be removed from their contact list, they got quite rude.

They called and asked for me by name, then started going on about some account. I told them straight away to stop, mentioned I'm on the TPS and they need to delete my number. The person said “ok ma’am but can I ask you something first” - cheeky stuff! I just said no and hung up. It sounded like they were foreign, even though the number showed as Manchester. Honestly, there should be stricter rules from Ofcom ensuring the number that rings you is the actual number calling.

This person somehow knew a few bits about me and claimed I could get a refund on old loans or something like PPI. She said she’d post me forms to fill out and send back, but then tried to check some info over the phone. I just told her to send the forms and ended the call. Kept calling me “love”, which felt really dodgy.

This bloke, who said his name was Chris with some weird accent, kept ringing me and kept using my last name. I tried being polite, said ‘alright Chris, how's things? Nice day, innit?’ and he just cut me off. What a prat.

The person on the phone only gave me the initial and last name, didn’t even know if they were calling for a bloke or a lady. Since there’s two of us in the house with the same first initial, I asked her to say the full name of who she wanted to reach. When I pushed a bit, she ended up saying she was ringing about checking if we’d made a PPI claim.
