Somebody rang saying they were with O2 and wanted me to do a survey since I apparently used an O2 Wifi Hotspot. Their first question was about which network I’m with. Part One: So, I only began getting these annoying calls after I took part in a “Win the newest iPhone” contest, where I gave my mobile number thinking I’d be contacted if I won. I work at an O2 call centre and thought I’d clear up some common misunderstandings: First off, if you honestly believe some random internet pop-up means you’re getting a free iPhone 7, you’re dreaming. Also, when you enter these online competitions, it’s normal to get calls because you’ve actually consented to hear from the competition’s partners. If you say, “I’m busy, call me later,” don’t be surprised when we ring back. If there’s absolutely nothing we can do to help you win, our call won’t last longer than a couple of minutes, and then you won’t hear from us again. I really don’t want to spend ages arguing with anyone - it’s pointless for both sides. Lastly, if you’re fed up with calls, just ask to be taken off the list. Hanging up suddenly without saying anything is actually the quickest way to get another call through.

02 use outsource companies so this firm is totally legit. All those comps, surveys and market research apps will sign u up to get marketing calls from third parties. In this case, an 02 pay as u go sim. If ur details got passed about, it's cos u willingly gave them out and it’s on u if u get bothered. U wanted to try an iPhone or win some Primark vouchers, so u basically asked for it. Wanting freebies comes with these small catches. So yeah, enjoy ur free sim. Cheers!

It’s not just O2, can’t remember the company’s name but it sounds completely unfamiliar. I told them firmly to stop calling and remove my details, then blocked the number. But they keep ringin from different numbers, every time I block one, another pops up. So far I’ve had calls from 0161 814 7226, 0161 814 4735, 0161 375 1069, 0161 820 2632, and a few more. It’s really annoying!

The calls actually come from a third-party company hired by Telefonica (O2), so they're not fibbing about who they’re calling from. They ring you because you signed up for a contest to win stuff like vouchers, a phone, or to be a mystery shopper. If you don’t want these calls, just don’t take part in the surveys in the first place. Also, keep in mind the people ringing you are just trying to earn a crust, it’s not really their fault we filled out those surveys.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with O2 saying I'd requested a free SIM card. They even knew my full name and the right address, which threw me off a bit. Problem is, I’d never get a SIM from O2 since their signal here is rubbish. They mentioned the SIM would arrive in 3 to 5 days. Honestly, what else could they be fishing for when everything they used is stuff anyone could find out?

I keep getting calls from this number like 2 or 3 times daily. It's super irritating and honestly feels like harassment.

Sigh, I’m putting this here just to balance out that dodgy ‘trustworthy’ review someone posted earlier. Some idiot scammers must be aware of this site or else how’d they keep trying their tricks?

Got a call from some Irish bloke saying I’d won a prize from 02, like I entered some contest or something and now I’m eligible for a cheap contract deal or whatever. Total rubbish, just spam. I’ve blocked the number now!

He claimed to be from O2 and told me I was a customer, which I’m definitely not. The guy didn’t come across as very professional and eventually realised I wasn’t with O2, then just thanked me for my time. It was a bit odd, honestly.

Got a call from this number twice today, once around 11.30 and then again at about 4.15. I had no idea who it was, and my little Jack Russell always starts barking crazily whenever the phone rings, so if it's a stranger number I just ignore it. Really glad I could check this site to see who it was though, cheers for that!

I couldn't pick up the call but seeing what others have said, it could be genuine. I did sign up for a chance to win a free 02 sim through some online contest. But if folks here never joined anything like that then it does sound a bit sketchy.

I got calls from them two times today, once around 11 in the morning and just a short while ago. When I picked up this last time, I had the phone on mute but they said “hello, is this…” and used my name. Thing is, I’m not even 18 yet. I was wondering if this is some sort of scam because earlier I also got a text about a free sim card. Has anyone else received anything like this? Please tell me if you have!
