I received a call on my personal, unlisted mobile from a woman who had a noticeable foreign accent. She was going on about life insurance. When I probed her on how she managed to get my number, she abruptly ended the conversation! Very suspicious.

They rang me loads and I kept ignoring it. Proper glad I didn’t pick up after seeing what others have said here. Definately blocking that number now.

They ring up pretty much any time, day or night, sometimes even 3 or 4 times daily. It’s an insurance firm, and they know your name which is a bit creepy - when I asked where they got my details from, they claimed it’s from their database and comes up automatically in their system. They keep pushing life insurance on you. Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s legit or some sort of scam.

They usually claim to be from some insurance firm and try to grab your details, but no legit insurance company asks for personal info over the phone - they’d send you a letter instead. When you try to get more info from them, they get annoyed and just hang up.

A guy called called Clark claiming to represent loads of insurance firms like Aviva and Sun Life, asking about life insurance. It was a cold call and he didn’t even know my surname. I didn’t give him any details as I could hardly make out what he was saying. He mentioned he was working from a call centre and there was tons of noise in the background. But I thought call centres should be closed during lockdown? The number showed up as Manchester too.

I picked up the phone and there was a pause for like 10 seconds, nearly hung up when a bloke asked for me by name. I asked who he was and he said his name was Michael Harrison, said he was doing an insurance review, mentioned working with Aviva and Legal and General. While he was speaking, you could hear loads of chatting and laughing in the background, then he just started laughing out loud and didn’t even pay attention to me. I thought it might be a prank so I ended the call, but after reading these comments I’m thinking maybe it was a scam after all.

Got a voicemail that was about 25 seconds long, but all I could hear was some people chatting in the back and a weird tapping noise like the mic was being messed with.

I received a rather unwanted phone call from a life insurance salesperson, and he had a distinct Indian accent. What struck me as odd was that he already knew our surname, which did raise a few red flags. I made it clear that I wasn't interested and requested him not to ring again.

Some bloke with an Indian accent called claiming to be from Insurance Services, asking if my brother had life insurance (my brother’s post sometimes gets sent here). What freaked me out a bit was that he actually knew my brother’s name. I mucked around with him for a bit and reckon he gave up. At least I wasted one tosser’s time, so that’s something.

Got 6 calls in one day. They keep ignoring my requests to take me off their list, which is definitely against GDPR. Keeps asking for some person who lives miles away from me. I don’t pick up now - on the last call they actually started shouting at me for being rude, can you believe it?

They are total con artists. They rang me up tryin to push insurance on me (said it was coz of a recent accident I supposedly had, how they knew that is beyond me). This time the caller was a British woman, not the usual Indian or other Asian accents. She was quite courteous at first, but the moment I told her I knew it was a scam since I work in security, she got annoyed and just ended the call.

Sounds like an Indian call centre working as a middleman for loads of dodgy pension scams and those sneaky injury claim calls. Best not to share any info with them and tell em to remove your number.
