I've never seen this number before, no idea who it could be.

I decided not to pick up, but later I rang them back. It was just an automated message and I couldn't get through to a real person. Sounds like a total scam to me.

These phone calls are from dodgy folks trying to convince you that you might be entitled to compensation for hearing damage. When I told them I’ve never been in that line of work, they quickly switched and said it was actually my missus who might qualify. It’s obviously some kind of scam or legal sharks ringing up random numbers, hoping to catch a lucky victim. They’ll end up taking a hefty cut for themselves. If you’re bored, have a bit of fun feeding them made-up details. They’ll get all worked up thinking they’ve trapped someone, but at least while you’re wasting their time, they’re not scamming others.
