I've never seen this number before, no idea who it could be.

I didn't pick up when the call came in, but decided to ring back. It turned out to be a recorded message that wouldn't let me through - definitely smells like a scam to me.

These callers are complete charlatans, acting as if they possess some secret information about claims for possible hearing impairment. Upon telling them I've never been involved in any industrial work, they swiftly shifted their tale to claim it was my spouse who was eligible instead. It’s quite clearly a bunch of scam merchants or what you’d call ‘ambulance chasers’, cold-calling people at random, fishing for any nibble from someone who might meet their criteria. Once they’ve hooked someone, they’ll just pocket a hefty slice in fees. If you’ve got a bit of time to waste, why not lead them on with a string of fake personal details? They’ll get all giddy thinking they’ve landed another victim, but while they're busy chasing after your red herrings, they’ll be too occupied to swindle someone else.
