I received a phone call from the number 0161 768 9012. It was a gentleman with an Indian accent who purported to be representing the O2 billing department, offering me a staggering 30% discount. I must say, it struck me as rather dubious-a scam call if ever there was one!

Got a call from someone claiming to be "Jack" from O2. He asked if I wanted a deal on multiple lines and then started arguing when I said I’ve never actually had a contract with O2! Seems odd, cos I’d definitely remember having one, but he insisted their records say otherwise...

This number, or something very similar, has rung me about five times already even though I've blocked it. It's a scam claiming to offer a 30% off from O2, trying to get you to hand over your email even though they haven’t a clue who you are. By the fourth call, I was just making up dodgy email addresses for a laugh. Saying “John.Smith” clearly didn’t bother them one bit!

Got a call claiming to be from O2 about a discount. When I asked why they hadn’t done the security check they have on my account, they just ended the call. Definitely a scammer.

Beware of scams where people ring you pretending to be from your mobile network. They somehow already have a list of numbers and which network you’re on, like Vodafone, O2 or EE. They promise big discounts, like 30-50% off your phone bill. Usually, they ask for your email or send a text to verify - don’t give them anything. Your mobile company doesn’t normally call you out of the blue! They use VoIP so the number on your screen looks legit and UK based.

O2 or any other phone service you might consider is a bit of a con. If you’re inclined to engage with them, it might be worth pretending to be with a different provider. This way, you can tie them up and prevent them from pestering others!

Got loads of calls from this number earlier today and I just ignored them all. They wouldn't stop ringing back as soon as the first call ended. Eventually I answered and asked, “Who is this and why are you calling me so much?” The woman said she was from O2 offering a 20% discount. I told her to stop ringing me or I’d block the number. She hung up straight away and I blocked it. Totally sounds like a scam!

Got two calls in the past couple of weeks from 0161 768 9012. I picked up once and they said they were Virgin Media and O2, trying to offer some kind of deal, but I just hung up. Don’t know how they got my number since I’m not even with O2. The second time they called, I saw it was the same number and didn’t bother answering. When I tried calling back from my landline, it said "This number is no longer in use". I’ve blocked the number and sent a report to 7726 (Ofcom).

They asked for an Airtime pin then kept ringing me over and over. I ended up blocking the number after they left a voice message that was all mumbo jumbo, sounded like some overseas call centre. Pretty sure it was a scam or just a pest.

Total scam - they kept going on with the same story about O2 giving a 30% discount because ‘customers have said O2 prices are too steep’. Then they tried to put me through to another team to set up the discount. I stopped listening, told them I’m not with O2 and they hung up pretty sharpish. Never ever give out your card info, click on any links, or share personal stuff. O2 wouldn’t ring you from a fixed line number either. Stay safe!

Ring but no message left. Definitely a dodgy number.

Got a call on my mobile from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from both O2 and Virgin Media - can you believe it? I don’t even have either service. Ended the call straight away and blocked the number.

They've called me twice already today. I just ignored it since it was an unwanted call. Pretty obvious it's some kind of scam. Since I switched over to O2, I've been getting loads of these calls nonstop.

This number rang me a couple times saying they were from o2. I just told em no cheers and put the phone down. Blocked the number after that.

Havent picked up, but keeps calling over and over just minutes apart. Proper annoying - so blocked now.

Got a call from a woman saying she was ringing on behalf of O2 offering a 30% discount when my contract ends.

Got two calls over the last couple of days from this and another number in Manchester. They said they were from O2 but it felt dodgy. They start talking about discounts and ask for your email plus the last few digits of your bank card. Once they get that info, they can get into your O2 account and take over. Usually they end up ordering pricey phones on your behalf. Watch out!

They claimed to represent O2, yet they were rather insistent, even when I inquired about their name and work number. Quite strange, if you ask me!

Received a strange text about “Airtime” with some code in it, then a bloke with an Indian accent said he was from O2. Told him I’d ring O2 myself if I needed any help.

Got two calls from this number, sounded like an Indian accent, claiming to be from 02. I asked for my 02 account number and he gave some lame excuse about not having it, kept pushing me to accept some supposed discount. I hung up, then later got another call from an Indian woman. Totally a scam, best to block this number.

Got a text with some airtime code and tried calling O2 but couldn’t get through. Went down to my nearby shop and they said it’s a total SCAM. Also got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be Dave from O2, but no chance. Watch out for this!!

Really pushy caller claiming to be from O2, kept going on even after I asked for their full name. Pretty clear it was a scam.

The number showed up in red, seemed like it was a scam, so I just didn't pick up and went ahead and blocked it after.

I saw another post similar to this. A few days back I got a message with some airtime code, I just ignored it and deleted it. Then today, I got a call at 10:38am, but when I refused, they called me again right after. So I just blocked the number.

My partner just got a call claiming to be from O2. We both knew it was dodgy, so he ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got an Airtime code out of the blue, wasn’t something I asked for. Then this number called me, sayin it’s from Manchester. I ignored the call but they rang straight back again. I got rid of the message and blocked the number. Happy I did after seein these reviews, definitely looks like some kind of scam.

Happened to me aswell. O2 saying I got a 40% off deal. They sent a link to reset my password with #promo 2024# or something. I just ended the call and they kept ringing back like 10 times more.

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2, but the woman on the line had a thick foreign accent that was really hard to make out. I kept telling her I’ve never had an O2 account and never will, but she just wouldn’t believe me. I had to tell her she wasn’t paying attention and to stop bothering me. The number that showed up was 0161 768 9012.

They called about a 40% reduction on my bill, but it just sounded off. Told them to send the details by email since I was busy at work. They quickly said they'd call me back instead. Yeah, I'm defo blocking that number now.

Got a call from this number claiming I could get 30% off my pay-as-you-go plan but wanted my email. Surely O2 already has that info? I told them nicely I’d deal with O2 myself when I was ready, not when they just keep pestering me. They just cut the call off without even saying goodbye. Proper cheeky! Had to look up the number as soon as I finished the call. Really annoying!

Got a message saying i missed a call from this number but I swear I never did. It then told me to dial 901 to opt out, with a few other choices too. Turns out it’s a scam designed to get you to ring them back, and the number's premium so you end up paying loads. Best thing is to just leave it and not bother replying.

Better to just ignore it, most likely a scam. Don’t bother replying.

Got conned by someone pretending to be from O2. Because of being totally knackered with a newborn, I fell for it and gave them my password (what a complete muppet). The very next day, a brand new iPhone turned up at my place! They’d hacked into my account and ordered it themselves - I reckon the trick is to get you to send the phone back to them, not O2. Thankfully, I managed to fix it with O2 in the end, but seriously, don’t be daft like me and hand over any details!

Just had a call from someone pretending to be from O2, claimed to be an Indian call centre, trying to get me to accept a 30% discount. I played along for a bit but called them out on it. Suddenly, they wanted me to change my password - total scam! What a waste of time.

Got a call from some O2 call centre in India claiming I could get 30% off. Played along for a bit just to see where it was going, then called them out on the nonsense. They actually said it was a scam and then bizarrely asked me to help them get a visa! Seriously, what a mess! This is just sad for both the UK and India. Properly broken systems here! 😞😀

Got a couple of dodgy calls claiming to be from 'O2'. The last time, I played along and told the caller right to their face they were just trying to scam me. They completely lost it and told me to go F*** myself! Was quite satisfying!

I was dumb and let my guard down one time and these lot got me. Luckily, things sorted themselves out in the end. They just rang me back and this time I told them exactly what I thought! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REPORT THEIR NUMBER FOR SCAMS AND PHISHING. You can do it by texting ‘CALL (insert number) to 7726’ so the police can take action!

Got loads of calls today from this guy with an Asian accent, trying to get me to verify my mobile account info. All about a 20% discount on my phone bill, apparently. Pretty annoying, so I just ended up blocking the number.

Got a message out of nowhere saying it was from Airtime with some pin number. Right after, my phone rang from this number and it flagged it as a possible spam call. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, I got another ring straight after that. Didn’t request any pin or anything like that. Strange!

I was just checking my phone when I got a text with some airtime PIN code, then that same number gave me a ring. Didn’t pick up, and right after the call ended, they rang again straight away. I ignored the second call too and they never left a message. So I just deleted the text and blocked the caller. Nowadays, I usually don’t pick up if the number isn’t saved in my contacts since, like many have mentioned, if it was important they’d leave a voicemail.

Got a ring from this number claiming to be O2, said something about 30% off... sounded like an Asian accent... total scam I reckon. I just blocked it straight away. These days I don't bother answering calls from numbers I don't recognise.
