Seems like these calls come from India, mostly about loans or debts. Definitely a scam, so best to steer well clear. They use loads of different numbers and won’t stop calling. Definitely not a UK company behind it.

This number called me right after I put up an ad on Gumtree. It rang a couple of times but I didn’t get to pick up before it stopped. I reckon it's one of those verification calls from Gumtree to confirm my phone number is real before they publish the ad.

I keep blocking these calls, but they just keep coming from different numbers. What exactly is the Police doing about this? And where’s the GDPR when these scammers are just abusing the system like this?

Got a call shortly after a crash asking if I needed a courtesy car (already declined) or interested in a ‘mild discomfort payout’ without needing a medical report. I declined again. Caller sounded surprised. “No aches or anything?” he asked, stressing again no medical report required. He clearly didn’t realise I wasn’t the driver. Twice called from that same number.
