Got a message claiming I’d won £420,000 in the Rugby World Cup in Japan, telling me to get in touch on this number. Seems like a scam to me.

The coppers would probably want to see these letters. Search for 'action fraud' on Google, then click on the 'police.uk' site, head to the 'reporting' area and follow the steps to file a phishing report. You don't have to sign up or register, though they might ask you to provide copies of the letters later. At the end of the report form, there’s an option to email the NFIB with extra details, and you can attach the letter there too. It's really important everyone reports these scams so the police can keep track of what's happening.

Got a letter claiming I’ve won £420,000 from some national rugby lottery - total scam, obviously. These leeches really are the lowest of the low.

I never got a phone call, just a letter telling me I’d won a huge cash prize and needed to ring a number to claim it! It was supposedly from the Commonwealth of Nations FIFA online lottery, which I’ve never heard of, and the main office was supposedly in Australia! Pretty clear this is a total SCAM, so a heads up to anyone else who gets one of these letters - just toss it straight in the bin!

I received a call informing me that I've supposedly won a staggering £400,000. However, they insisted that I keep this under wraps to steer clear of any potential scams or unwanted attention. Quite suspicious, don’t you think?

My father in law got a call from some lot called UK CLAIMS ADVISORY GROUP about PPI, saying he had £7000 owed to him but had to send £350 via postal order to Nepal to cover "fees." I decided to check them out and rang their 0800 number. They confirmed straight away it wasn’t how they worked at all and warned me it’s a total scam. Seriously, don’t be stupid and send any cash to these people!

Got a call from someone in India last weekend. Then today, a group calling themselves Claims Advisory Group said they'd be dropping off a refund cheque for £3,000 at my house within a couple of hours. Last weekend they kept asking if I could get to the bank on my own. I’ve never paid any bank charges before (I used to work at Barclays), so I knew straight away it was dodgy. Was just about to hang up when the bloke started making annoying, childish noises.
