Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming there was something wrong with my computer and asking me to turn it on so he could fix it remotely. I told him straight up that I wasn’t falling for any scams and said thanks but no thanks before hanging up. Total muppet, that one.

Got a call from 01617681142 on 26/8/21 at about 8.45. I didn’t pick up since the number didn’t look familiar, and they never left a voicemail. After checking out what others have said, seems like it’s probably just a scam.

Today, 6th July 2021 at about 9:10 in the morning, I got a call from 01617681142. I asked who it was, and it turned out to be an Asian man who was really disrespectful. He tried to be all aggressive and told me to get lost in a very rude way. I just told him to bugger off.

Today at 11:52, I got a call from an Asian gentleman who said something about my computer. He asked me to switch on my computer and change some software settings, but I couldn’t catch the name of the company he mentioned. I ended up just hanging up.

This number rang me and a person saying their name was Steve, but he didn’t sound British, said he was from PC World. He told me there was a problem with my computer software showing up on their system and wanted to do a health check on it. Seemed like such a typical scam so I cut the call off and told them I’d report it. I’ve also put in a complaint through the BT scam phone reporting site.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming he was from Currys. Said there’s some problem on my laptop that Microsoft flagged up, but he can sort it out for me. All I had to do was turn on the laptop and listen to him. Do they honestly reckon everyone’s fool enough to fall for that? Told him to jog on pretty sharpish!

On 22nd March 2021 at about 8:46am, I got a ring from 01617 681142. Since the number looked strange to me, I didn’t answer. There wasn’t any voicemail left either. Later, I tried using 1471 to check the caller, and it said the exact same number. The odd thing was the 1471 message sounded a bit off, with weird wording saying something like, ‘The number that called you was 01617 681142. To return the call press 3.’ Just thought I’d share in case it helps someone else.

This morning (15/03/21) I got a ring from this number. The person said they were with BT and that there was some issue with my PC. They asked me to turn it on so they could guide me through fixing it. I asked if they were trying to remotely control my computer and as soon as I said that, the call ended.

Got a call from Steve at PEE SEE world, seemed like a really polite guy. He asked if he could get into my computer, but honestly I was a bit lost with some of the tech terms he used. He kept asking about the ‘arse port’ where the mouse should be plugged in - had me chuckling a bit!

Got a call this morning at 8:15 from some "World Wide Web server" or something. I told the bloke it’s illegal to be ringing before 9am. Then I told him not to call me anymore and he just told me to f### off. What a cheek!

Got a call from a bloke named Steve, said he was from PC World. His English wasn’t great, kept trying to get me to switch on my computer for some error check. I asked him how he knew I had a PC in the first place, and he claimed he could see it on his screen. Told him I've got both a PC and a laptop, so I joked that his "magic screen" must be pretty special since I don’t actually have either. After that, he just hung up on me.

I got a ring from a woman with a proper thick accent, claiming to be from some worldwide web company. She said they'd found a problem with my internet and asked if I had a computer or laptop. I told her no, only a smartphone and a smart TV, would that be alright? She insisted it had to be a PC or laptop. When I asked what error code she was talking about, she didn’t answer. Then she kept going on about the PC and laptop so I told her, “You mean the ones I don’t actually own?” She just wrapped up by saying it didn’t make any difference. They must honestly think we’re mugs.
