Just had a phone call a short while back from someone purporting to be with the Community Money Advice Bureau. The conversation was abruptly cut short as soon as I began to ask her some questions. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Claimed there was an issue with my account, which was clearly a scam.

This lot said they were from the local money advice service, but they couldn’t say how they got my details. They had no clue about a data protection officer or anything like that. I’m definitely going to report them to the data watchdog. What’s worse is they put me on hold and then rang me again, linking me to someone else who was also cold-calling. Samson, if you’re reading this, make sure you report them to the ICO like I’m about to do!

Seemed pretty sketchy to me, plus they didn’t bother leaving any message.

Someone called me on my mobile but it just buzzed once and then nothing more.

The phone rang just briefly, I didn’t pick up since the number wasn’t familiar (0161 is a Manchester area code). Weirdly, my caller ID popped up with a message asking me to 'check the power cut time' or something similar, and there were options to select yes or no right by the buttons on my BT 850 handset. It all felt pretty dodgy - could this be another scam attempt?

Somebody said they were from Battersea Group or something, but honestly I have no clue who they are. As soon as I picked up, they just hung up right away. Looks like a dodgy number likely used for scams or something fishy. Wouldn’t trust it.
