I received a call earlier from a chap with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT, rather than Talk Talk, but he spun the same tale about issues with my internet connection. When I mentioned needing to head off to work and asked if I could ring him back, he provided the number 01617680738. I’ve had my fair share of dodgy calls from Talk Talk, and since I’m actually with BT, I was curious if this one might be genuine. After doing a bit of digging online, it’s clear I won’t be returning that call.

I recently received a call from a chap with an Indian accent claiming there was an issue with my internet service. He attempted to convince me to press a few keys on my laptop so he could sort it out. I requested his phone number and name so I could verify with Talk Talk first. Oddly enough, he hasn't attempted to contact me again… at least not yet.

This morning, I received a rather dubious call from a chap named William Stewart-he had quite a strong Indian accent. He claimed that my router was being accessed by various individuals, which he asserted was leading to corruption of my system. He offered to guide me through a solution, but it required remote access to my computer. I’m quite wary about granting anyone remote control unless I have absolute faith in them, so I politely told him I was occupied and asked if I could ring him back shortly. I requested his name and a number to reach him at; the number he provided was 01617680738, although, oddly enough, the number displayed on my caller ID was 01702560947. As is my custom when I sense something's amiss, I took to the internet to investigate further. Not surprisingly, I landed here, which confirmed my suspicions-it’s yet another scam!

I've come across this number that seems to be floating about, and it's being advertised as a contact for TalkTalk. Let me assure you, it's definitely not a genuine TalkTalk number, so do yourself a favour and steer clear of calling it back.

You won't believe it, but I just got a call from someone claiming to be Alan Hansen from 'Talk Talk,' chatting away about some issues with my router! It's amusing to think how far the famed footballer's career has shifted, isn't it? What a turn of events!

Earlier today, I got a call at 8:58 from a woman named Jenny claiming to be from TALKTALK, saying there was a glitch with my router.
Be warned, this is definitely a scam-don’t share any personal information! The caller ID was from an unfamiliar location, and when I told her I’d call back, she provided the number 01617680738. If you're facing any issues, it's best to contact TalkTalk directly yourself!

"Important Advice From 2016!" 1. Always jot down their phone number. 2. Note their name and which country they're in. 3. Inform them that you're quite busy and will ring them back shortly. 4. Use that number to do a quick Google search - just to check if it's dodgy. 5. If they dangle £200 and a new router in front of you, it’s time to run for the hills! 6. If they try to trick you into revealing the last two digits of your bank account, just hang up. 7. If they ask you to download software like "TeamViewer", steer clear! 8. For any issues with your internet, always call TalkTalk Direct. 9. Ignoring this advice will only make it easier for scammers to succeed. 10. Remember, it's crucial that you make the call to TalkTalk Direct yourself. Take care! Mr D

In the past week alone, I've been inundated with nine calls, all supposedly from Talk Talk. Each time, I’ve been greeted by what sounds like the same Asian gent claiming to be either William, John, Alan, Richard, Mark, or Joseph - with a couple of missed ones from an unknown number. The final straw was a chap named Steve Gomes ringing from the number 01617680738. Honestly, this is becoming quite unnerving!

I received a call from someone claiming to be 'Steve Watson' with an Indian accent. It was something to do with fraud on my TalkTalk account-apparently, they wanted to notify me immediately, despite the fact it had been a couple of weeks since the issue arose! They were awfully busy dealing with numerous cases, which is why I hadn't heard from them sooner. The moment I recognised the call centre sound in his voice, I realised it was a classic scam. He insisted he needed to check my faulty router and asked me to hop on my computer. When I quizzed him on why they couldn’t simply send me a replacement router, he abruptly hung up. It’s just outrageous!

I received a phone call this morning from someone named Ryan Williams, and his accent seemed rather Indian. I couldn’t attend to the issue he was raising at that moment, but he offered me this number, claiming to represent TalkTalk about a problem with my router that he could supposedly rectify. He mentioned he’d ring me again later, but I told him I would reach out when I was free, as I was uncertain when I’d be available. Is there a way to block calls from this number or report it to the fraud team? What steps should I take when he tries to contact me again?

Not only are they running IT scams, but these fraudsters also masquerade as representatives from TalkTalk, claiming they need to process a refund to your bank or PayPal account due to an overpayment of several thousand pounds. They spin a heart-wrenching tale to pull on your heartstrings and suggest sending the supposed overpayment via MoneyGram to an individual with an Asian name in Benin, Lagos. It's a real shame, as my folks have just fallen victim to this trickery and lost a substantial sum. When I tried calling the number, I was met with an incredibly rude response, essentially telling me to take a hike. It's disheartening that companies like MoneyGram, TalkTalk, and Barclays seem to be turning a blind eye to this situation. It’s worth noting that Action Fraud receives approximately 8,000 reports every week related to this type of scam. Beware, folks; the risk is very real!

It unfortunately occurred with my partner, and it's just heartbreaking. He fell for the trickery, and we ended up being swindled. They drained our bank account and all. It's left me feeling utterly devastated. Absolute scoundrels!

An Asian lady identifying herself as Jane Williams rang me, claiming to represent TALK TALK. Her accent made it seem as though she’d grown up in quite a challenging environment. I suspect it’s a substantial scam-be sure to report this to both the authorities and TALK TALK themselves!

Like many others, both my parents and I have been on the receiving end of calls from this number. The callers claim to represent TalkTalk in the UK and are supposedly addressing issues related to broadband. Strangely, every time, the accent has been distinctly Asian. The last individual I spoke to introduced herself as Shirley Wilson, insisting she could verify her connection to TalkTalk as she had all my personal details, including my full name and home address. Naturally, I've never shared such information with them. When I pressed them for their contact number and the location they were calling from, they promptly ended the call. As expected, attempting to determine the number through 1471 revealed nothing. On a previous occasion, I mentioned I was recording the conversation for legal purposes, and once again, they disconnected. It’s utterly disgraceful that such tactics are employed, and it's quite upsetting to think how it could distress vulnerable elderly individuals.

I've had a similar experience myself - it was with TalkTalk. The chap was kind enough to provide me with my postcode and account number. After he managed to get my phone number, I made it quite clear where he could shove it and promptly reported the incident to TalkTalk.

This morning, my brother received a rather strange call from this number. I was still in bed when he told me they claimed to have mistakenly credited him £500 and were asking for it back. As soon as I heard this, I urged him to look at his account on my laptop, which indicated that no such funds were added. Clearly, it was a scam! I advised him not to send any money or share any personal details. Afterward, I decided to search for the number and stumbled upon this site, which helped verify my suspicions about the scam operation.

Same old story as mentioned before... received a call purportedly from TalkTalk claiming my computer had issues and they could help fix it. The number was withheld, but upon inquiry, I was given this one: 01617680738, with a representative named 'Mairy' (I even made her spell it out for clarity). I feigned interest and probed further about their spiel-eventually, she couldn’t take the heat and hung up! As usual, the wisest route is to block or simply disregard any calls from numbers you don’t recognise. Unless, of course, you’re keen on playing a little game with them, which can be quite entertaining! I once toyed with a caller by pretending not to speak English well, responding in fractured phrases-it provided me with quite a chuckle!

Identical situation here - rang up claiming to represent TalkTalk and insisted they needed to access my computer to resolve a hacking issue. She identified herself as Jane, but I've got my doubts about that. Her accent was distinctly Asian, and the line quality was atrocious, drowning in background cacophony. Strangely, she didn’t even bother with any typical security checks. When I requested a number to return the call, I ended up with this one, which, surprise surprise, doesn’t connect. Clearly a scam!

I recently received a rather dubious call from a number claiming to be 'Talk Talk' - 01617680738, if I recall correctly. The caller informed me that there was some sort of issue with my router, suggesting it had been compromised and that they needed to access my computer to resolve it. Naturally, I was a bit sceptical and requested a number where I could reach them back. You could tell the woman was a tad put out when I expressed my distrust. I decided to ring the official customer service number listed on their website, and lo and behold, they confirmed it was a scam! Apparently, Talk Talk never reaches out to customers about router problems unprompted and would only seek information if I initiated contact first. I suppose I've become rather wary of unsolicited calls, as this isn't the first time I've encountered such shady tactics. Bloody cheek of them!

I've recently been pestered by a couple of calls supposedly from 'TalkTalk' based in Manchester, claiming there was an issue with my router that required my immediate attention online. They gave a number, 0161 7680 738, for me to ring back for confirmation. It's all dodgy, as they linger on the line, obviously hoping you’ll return the call. The chap on the other end, who had a strong Asian accent, introduced himself as Smith Watson-very suspicious! Do yourself a favour and steer clear of these con artists; they’ll have your pockets turned inside out before you know it!

I received a rather peculiar phone call regarding issues with my TalkTalk modem, claiming it was sending errors to their service centre and that my system performance was sluggish. The caller requested that I boot up my computer to tweak some settings on the modem. However, my setup isn’t based on Windows or MacOS, but is a minor Linux distribution instead. When I explained this, he insisted on taking remote control using a Windows command, which obviously didn’t work with my system. Then, he suggested that I download a specific programme onto my machine, yet again this was futile as the software was incompatible with Linux. I found his approach rather aggressive, so I told him to ring me back later, as I could use my husband’s computer instead. I wanted a little time to check if this was a legitimate call before proceeding. It seems like I dodged a bullet there!

My father-in-law received a rather dubious call purporting to be from Talk Talk, claiming that his computer had been compromised and they needed to investigate his router. They insisted he keep his phone line open. The callers "detected" a variety of breaches and informed him they would dispatch a new router along with a £200 reimbursement. They even directed him to look at a screen on his computer, which displayed the supposed £200 refund. However, upon closer inspection, he noticed a whopping £4200 refund instead (I’m sure you can see where this is headed!). They apologetically claimed it was an error and insisted he needed to return the excess funds. They went on to suggest he could perform a money transfer. Thankfully, when he went to the Post Office to carry it out, the cashier wisely advised him against it, suspecting it was a scam. He then reached out to me, and I was able to confirm his worries.

For several days now, my folks have been bombarded with calls from this particular number. Finally, my dad decided to answer today to figure out what this whole "router issue" was about. He kept pressing them to confirm if it was on the up and up, but they had all his details-address, payment information, you name it-so it felt somewhat legitimate. After an hour of him following their instructions on the computer, they suddenly mentioned he was entitled to a refund and asked for his bank details. My dad pointed out that if they already had his payment details, they should just process it that way. They promptly hung up on him. Complete con, steer clear!

On the 24th of February, 2016, at approximately 09:15, I received an unexpected phone call in the West Midlands from a lady with a noticeable foreign accent. She claimed to be representing TalkTalk, informing me that there was suspicious activity regarding my internet connection. Pondering her legitimacy, I requested her number so I could return her call. Instead, I decided to check the number on this site, and to my astonishment, discovered it was associated with a scam. Naturally, I opted not to return the call. As a current TalkTalk customer, I rely on one of their modems for my internet service, so I had my doubts about the authenticity of her claims.

I've been bombarded with calls multiple times each day for the past three days. The callers claim to be from Talk Talk, attempting to convince me to allow them access to my computer by alleging that my router is generating error messages. I received a rather dubious call on my landline from someone claiming to be Eric, representing TalkTalk. He insisted that my router was emitting error alerts that needed urgent attention. When he inquired if my computer was turned on, I said I’d rather call back to confirm the legitimacy of the call. He provided me with the phone number 0161 768 0738 and rather cheekily suggested I ring him back on my mobile while he patiently waited. Not one to be easily fooled, I promptly searched the number online and discovered a multitude of sites warning that it belonged to a suspected scam organisation. I relayed this information to “Eric,” and he became quite flustered before abruptly disconnecting the call.
