Today I got a phone call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was from BT, not Talk Talk, but he had the same spiel about issues with my internet. I told him I was about to leave for work and asked if I could ring him back, and he gave me the number 01617680738. I knew calls from Talk Talk were usually scams, but since I’m a BT customer, I wasn’t sure if this was legit. After checking online and seeing this info, I’m sure now I won’t be ringing that number back.

I got a phone call from someone with an Indian accent telling me my internet wasn’t working right and asked me to press some keys on my computer so he could sort it out. I told him to give me his name and a number so I could ring Talk Talk to double check. Haven’t heard from him since... fingers crossed.

This morning I got a call from someone named William Stewart, sounded like he had an Indian accent. He claimed that my router was being hacked which was causing issues, and he wanted remote access to my computer to “fix” it. I’m not one to just let strangers access my PC, so I told him I was tied up and asked if I could ring him back shortly. I asked for his full name again and a callback number. He gave me 01617680738, but the number on my phone was actually 01702560947. Feeling a bit iffy, I looked both numbers up online, and like I thought, it was a typical scam trying to trick people.

Got a call today at 8:58am from someone saying she was Jenny from TALKTALK, claiming there was a problem with my router.
Don’t fall for it - it’s a total scam! They don’t show a local number on the caller ID, and when I asked them to call me back, they gave me the number 01617680738. If you need help, always contact TalkTalk yourself, don’t trust calls like these!

Back in 2016, I learnt some really important stuff about phone scams that I've never forgotten. First off, always make sure you grab their phone number, along with their name and where they're calling from. Then, quickly tell them you're super busy and promise to ring them back later. Next, take their number and quickly google it to check if it's linked to scams. If they suddenly offer you £200 plus a new router, that’s a massive red flag - best to leg it! And if they try to trick you into giving the last two digits of your bank account, just cut the call immediately. Also, never download anything like "TeamViewer" or any other software they suggest. If you have problems with your internet, always call TalkTalk straight away yourself. Honestly, ignoring these tips just means the scammers win and have a field day. Over the past week, I’ve been getting a bunch of calls - like nine - all saying they're from Talk Talk. The bloke on the phone was always the same Asian guy but he used loads of different names like William, John, Alan, Richard, Mark, Joseph, and a couple I couldn’t catch since the number was blocked. The most recent caller introduced himself as Steve Gomes from this number 01617680738. Honestly, it’s getting a bit creepy now...

Got a call from some guy named 'Steve Watson' with an Indian accent, saying there was some fraud on my TalkTalk account from a few weeks back. Apparently, they were only just now able to warn me because they’d been swamped with loads of similar cases. I could tell straight away from his call centre tone that it was dodgy. He insisted on checking my "infected" router and told me to get on my computer. When I asked why he couldn’t just post me a replacement router instead, he hung up on me. Proper nonsense!

This morning I got a call from someone named Ryan Williams, but his accent was clearly Indian. I couldn’t take the call properly then, so he seemed annoyed but still gave me his number. He said he was from TalkTalk and mentioned there was an issue with my router that he said he could fix. He wanted to ring me again later, but I told him I’d call him instead since I wasn’t certain when I’d be free. Is there a way to block calls from that number or report it to fraud services? What’s the best thing to do if he rings me again?

They pretend to be from TalkTalk, claiming you’ve been overcharged by thousands and offer a refund into your bank or PayPal. They spin some sad tale, then ask you to send the "overpayment" back through MoneyGram to a name somewhere in Lagos or Benin. My folks just got scammed out of a few grand like this. When I called the number, the person rudely told me to basically sod off. Neither MoneyGram, TalkTalk, nor Barclays seem to care. Apparently, Action Fraud get about 8,000 reports weekly for this kind of scam. Seriously, watch out for this one!

Got a call from a woman claiming to be Jane Williams, saying she was from TALK TALK. Her accent was really strong, like something straight out of the slums in India. Definitely feels like a massive scam. Seriously, folks, report it both to the police and TALK TALK.

Me and my parents have got calls from this same number loads of times. The person on the phone claims to be from TalkTalk here in England and says there’s a problem with our broadband. What's strange is they always seem to have an Asian accent. The last time, the woman said her name was Shirley Wilson and tried to convince me she was genuine by giving my full name, address, and other private info. Naturally, I never shared anything with them before. When I asked for their phone number and where exactly they were calling from, they just hung up on me. I tried calling 1471 to get their number but nothing turned up. One time, I said I was recording the call for legal reasons and guess what? They cut me off straight away. These scammers are really awful and it’s sad because they frighten older people.

Got a call from an Asian lady who said she was from TalkTalk, telling me my router was hacked. She wanted me to switch on my laptop, but I wasn’t having any of it. I asked her why she was calling, then she sent some bloke, an Asian guy named Jack Wood, on the phone. Jack said hackers had got into my system and insisted I power up my laptop so he could walk me through fixing it. I told him I’d just change my password, but he kept pushing. I mentioned my son’s in IT and he’d sort it out. Jack said he’d ring me next week but gave me a number to call if anything went wrong. Half an hour later, the same woman rang back, really pushy about me turning the laptop on. I told her she’d already called. She denied it until I said I spoke to her earlier and that Jack Wood was the supervisor she put me through to. After a brief silence, she snapped, “Well, you can F*** off,” and hung up on me!

My brother got a call from this number earlier today. He was told they had accidentally transferred £500 into his account and wanted it returned. I woke up to the whole thing going on, so I asked him to check his bank balance on my laptop just to be safe. Naturally, there was no extra cash there at all. I warned him against sending any money or sharing his info. Later, I searched for this number on this site and it was clear straight away it was a scam.

Just got another call from someone claiming to be from TalkTalk saying there’s an issue with my computer and they can fix it. The number didn’t show up, but when I asked, they gave me 01617680738 and said her name was ‘Mairy’ - I even asked her to spell it out. I kept playing along as if I believed what she was saying, asking loads of questions, and in the end she just hung up on me! Honestly, the safest thing is always to ignore or block calls from unknown numbers unless you’ve got time to mess about with them. Sometimes it’s a laugh - once I pretended I was Chinese, didn’t understand a word, and spoke in really dodgy English. Made me chuckle, anyway!

She spoke with an Asian accent and the line was really poor with loads of background noise. She didn’t bother with the usual security checks. When I asked for a callback number, she gave me one that doesn’t even work. Definitely a scam.

Today I got a ring from 'Talk Talk' using the number 01617680738, saying there was an issue with my router - apparently it had been hacked - and they needed to get into my computer to sort it out. I told the woman I wanted to verify she was really from Talk Talk and asked for a callback number. She sounded a bit cheesed off when I said I wasn’t taking her word for it. After that, I phoned the genuine Talk Talk number listed on their official website. Turns out it was a scam call. They told me Talk Talk never contacts customers out of the blue about router problems and would only request info if you ring them first. Lucky I’m sceptical about random calls like that, these dodgy attempts aren’t new to me.

I just got a couple of calls from someone claiming to be 'talktalk' from Manchester. They told me there was an issue with my router and that I needed to log in to sort it out. They gave me a number to call back, which was 0161 7680 738, supposedly for verification. Turns out it’s a total scam - they just leave the line open so you ring them back. The bloke on the phone, with a strong Asian accent, said his name was Smith Watson. Seriously, avoid these people, they're just trying to scam you!

I got a call from someone saying my TalkTalk modem was sending errors to their service centre and that my system was running really slow. They told me to switch on my computer and change some modem settings. But here's the thing, I don’t have Windows or Mac, I use a basic Linux system. They tried to get me to press the Windows key for remote control, which obviously didn’t work on my Linux PC. Then they wanted me to download some software, but again it wasn’t compatible with Linux. They were pretty pushy about it, and I noticed they were trying to set up a remote connection, so I told them to call back later when I could use my husband’s PC. Took me hours to check if this was legit or not, but now I found this site and realised how lucky I was not to fall for it.

My father-in-law got a call from someone pretending to be from TalkTalk, saying his computer was hacked and they needed to check his router. They told him to keep his phone line open and then "found" several security breaches. Next, they said they’d send him a new router and refund £200. They even showed him a screen on his PC displaying this refund. But when he glanced closer, it said £4200 instead (guess what comes next). They quickly apologised for the “error” and asked him to pay back the difference. They wanted him to do a money transfer... Luckily, when he went to the Post Office to sort it out, the clerk warned him it sounded suspicious. He rang me straight after, and I confirmed it was definitely a scam.

For days now my mum and dad kept getting calls from this number nonstop. Today, my dad finally picked up to sort out these supposed "router issues" they were going on about. He kept trying to figure out if it was some kind of scam but they had his address and payment info down, so it seemed pretty legit. After about an hour of him following their instructions on the computer, suddenly they said he was owed a refund and asked for his bank details. When he told them since they already had his payment info they should be able to do it themselves, they just hung up. Definitely a total con, STAY AWAY from this one!

This afternoon, on 25th Feb around 1pm, I got a call from a rather pushy woman with an Asian accent who said my computer had been hacked recently. She told me to switch on my computer right away and she’d guide me through fixing it. Claimed she was with TalkTalk but she was quite hard to understand and came off quite rude, so I doubted she was legit. When I asked her what I needed to do so I could write it down, she just kept insisting I turn my computer on first. She gave me the number 01617680738 happily. I told her I was having lunch and it wasn’t a good time, then she said something to someone else like “oh, she’s at lunch” and quickly ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam. Can anyone share a real TalkTalk contact number in the UK where I can report this? Cheers for any help! From Sussex.

On 24th Feb 2016, about 9.15 in the morning here in the West Midlands, I got a call from this number. A lady spoke, sounded like she had an accent from abroad, and told me she was with TalkTalk. She claimed someone was trying to hack into my internet. I asked for her contact details, said I'd ring back later. Then I checked this site, Who is calling you, and realised it was a scam. I never phoned her back. I'm with TalkTalk myself and get my internet through one of their modems.

For the past few days, I've been getting loads of calls, at least a couple each day, from folks claiming to be from Talk Talk. They keep saying there's something wrong with my router and try to get me to let them on my computer. They never show their number, just keep it private. Whenever I ask for a call-back number, they either cut me off straight away or this bloke "Eric" will give me the number 01617680738. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

Someone rang me on my landline claiming to be Eric from TalkTalk. He said my router was sending out some urgent error alerts that needed fixing straight away. When he asked if my computer was turned on, I said I wanted to call back to check it was legit. He gave me the number 0161 768 0738 and even told me to ring on my mobile while he stayed on the line. Before calling back, I looked up the number online and came across loads of posts warning it was linked to a scam. I told Eric what I’d discovered and after a bit of stammering, he just hung up.

Somebody tried to get into my computer without even checking with me first, so once I noticed the mouse moving by itself I quickly cut the call. After that, I removed any apps that had been installed on that day whether they seemed legit or not.
