A bloke with a Manc accent rang and asked if I was "Mr xxxxxx." I didn’t say anything straight away, just asked what the call was regarding. He said, "We need to speak to the person who owns the property, are you the owner?" Still not saying yes, I asked again what it was about. He mentioned EDG Energy and something about a survey, then suddenly the call just cut off.

Not sure if it’s harmful or not, so I’ve marked it as Harassment. 😡😡😡 I let my answerphone pick up to screen it, expecting maybe a message or some ID, but just silence followed by the call hanging up. Most likely another scammer using fake, unrecognised area codes and numbers to dodge detection. The authorities really need to step up and put a stop to these fake caller ID tricks!!! 😡😡😡

This bloke claimed to be from EDF Energy and started asking about who supplies my gas and electric, how old my boiler is, and whether the house or boiler is insulated. Felt like he was just reading off a script. He asked for me by name, and when I said I wasn't interested in switching or any free checks, he got quite rude and started being abusive. I asked for my details to be taken off their list in line with GDPR rules, but he just hung up without saying if they’d done it. Proper unprofessional behaviour from them.

Got a call from a place like EDG Energy, same usual rubbish. I mentioned GDPR to both callers. The first lady pretended she had no idea what I was talking about, even though I told her every financial firm sent out letters about it last year. She kept denying she knew anything about it, which was daft. The second bloke got all sarcastic when I told him the same. I just told him he wouldn’t be so funny when he lost his job coz the company shuts down! Both were English, so it seems the company is based in the UK and should follow GDPR, meaning they’re breaking the rules here.

Got a call from a bloke named Jake, seemed local so that was a bit different. Said he was with EGD or ECD, doing energy surveys nearby and could tell me about grants and stuff. That to me sounds like a dodgy scam because if it was legit, they’d probably say sorry before hanging up.

Someone rang up asking for my late wife, saying she owned a property, then went on about some phase 3 energy survey because phases 1 and 2 were supposedly done already. I told them that phases 1 and 2 never happened at my place, and then this young lass with a harsh Mancunian accent just told me to shut up and listen. When I kept talking, she hung up on me - proper rude! The number didn’t show up on 1471 but somehow came through on Vodafone Caller ID. My number’s on the TPS, so it’s clear these calls from spoofed numbers mean the system isn’t stopping anything.

The bloke wouldn’t back down, saying it wasn’t a cold call and that they’d sent a letter up to 6 months ago warning about the call - which they absolutely didn’t! This number just called me. I looked it up on this site and I’m glad I didn’t pick up. I usually don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t recognise, but I always check them first. If you do answer by mistake and they ask for someone by name, just say sorry, you’ve got the wrong person. That usually throws them off. One time I even told them I was the burglar and they hung up straight away!

I received a call today from a company called GDE Surpose, claiming they were in the B38 area and offering an assessment for heating loss. I promptly informed them that I wasn't interested, yet they persisted in chatting away, so I firmly told them to clear off. This marks the eighth consecutive day I've been bombarded with nuisance calls, and honestly, it’s high time the proper authorities took note of how these companies distribute phone numbers. Our number really ought to be kept under wraps; it’s not something that should be shared publicly. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. We can’t install a call blocker since my husband has terminal cancer, and most of the hospital and doctor’s calls come through as withheld numbers when they need to reach us. This constant harassment needs to be addressed!

Now I cant seem to get hold of them to cancel. Luckily, most of us here in Birmingham and Manchester have neighbourhood watch, so we’re a bit safer.

Went to answerphone so didnt leave a message, I always look up strange numbers on this site and the reviews really help. I’ve blocked this number now.

I let the call go to voicemail and it hung up straight away without leaving anything. Sounds like a typical scam to me. Had a look at the number and it’s from Manchester.

GOT A CALL AND PICKED UP THINKING IT WAS SOMEONE I WAS WAITING FOR - THEY HAD ALL MY INFO AND I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO COME ROUND - NOW I SEE IT WAS A RIPOFF CAN'T GET THROUGH TO CANCEL - GOOD THING MOST OF US AROUND BIRMINGHAM AND MANCHESTER HAVE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH SET UP IN OUR AREAS

I picked up the phone by accident and some bloke named Mark said he was carrying out an energy survey. I gave him all my details about the windows, thinking it was alright. He mentioned a woman called Louise would ring back to confirm everything and tell me who’d be coming for the survey. Then a guy named Ross got involved. I tried calling the number he gave me, but nobody answered - BE CAREFUL!

They keep ringing from two different numbers, but I never pick up since I always look up unknown numbers first. I really wish they'd stop, they've been at it every single day for more than a week now.

I answered the call and the bloke asked if I was Mrs xxxx, I told him I was her daughter instead. Then he goes, 'why are you shouting at me?' I swear I wasn't, then he just hung up. Proper strange and kinda creepy, luckily I was the one who picked up, not my mum.

Got a voicemail saying my account was compromised and I needed to press one to avoid being cut off. Felt a bit nervous at first, but I didn’t press anything and searched the number online instead. Glad I checked before doing anything!

I received a call from this number regarding my heating. When I probed a bit further, they abruptly hung up. It's clearly a scam - how cruel to target those who are already in a delicate situation!

Got a call from some random number, and the person asked for me by name. When I asked who it was, they just said, "Blimey, you're from Chester," and then cut off the call. Honestly, just block these kind of calls.

I got a call from Alicia on this number, who somehow knew my address and just assumed I shared my husband's last name. That made me certain it wasn't someone I'd ever given my number to. When I asked why she was calling, she refused to give a straight answer and acted like she wanted to scare me by showing she had my info. I told her to jog on, and as I hung up I heard her yelling back at me down the line.

I got a call from someone with heaps of background noise, sounded like a call centre, asking if I’d let them do an energy check at my place. The bloke asked for me by name and even rattled off my address, which was a bit creepy. He kept saying loads of people on my road had already signed up. When I didn’t buy it and asked for proof, he tried spinning some tale about the Jones family next door being on board. I just laughed it off, and then he ended the call.

Somebody called saying they were doing an energy survey all over the country, including here. I just laughed at that. Then they got all nasty and told me they'd ring me back at 3 in the morning to see if I was still amused. After that, they just ended the call. Quite rude!

Some bloke said he was from EDG doing a survey about energy use. I challenged him if he was cold calling and mentioned my number's on the TPS list. Then he weirdly started talking about some asteroid coming towards my place. I had no idea what nonsense he was on about and asked him what planet he was living on. He then told me to be nicer to whoever rings me next and hung up. Honestly, what a muppet!

This morning my landline rang from 01617635456. The caller claimed to be from EDG, saying they were conducting an energy efficiency survey in my area, warning me I couldn’t miss it because my windows are over a decade old. I said I wasn’t interested, and that seemed to rile him up quite a bit - he started shouting at me not to hang up as “they weren’t selling anything,” which felt odd. I firmly said no again and then he just hung up on me. Tried calling back but the number won’t accept inbound calls, so no luck getting through to anyone in charge.
