I recently had an unfortunate experience with what turned out to be a dodgy loan firm that claims to help folks with poor credit ratings by offering appealing loans, all while asking for an upfront fee of £250. Like a fool, I consented to a £2000 loan over a period of 18 months, with a monthly payment set at £136. After I made that initial payment-which I now regret terribly-it became painfully obvious that I’d fallen victim to a scam! Despite their constant communication, they soon informed me that I would have to cough up another £150 as a sort of 'penalty' for my supposed unreliability and lacklustre credit history. They assured me that this amount would be refunded promptly, claiming I'd see it back in my account within the hour. But lo and behold, they then claimed that the money was stuck in some limbo between our accounts, and to free it up, I was told I needed to pay yet another £250. The way they suggested I do this was nothing short of astonishing-they wanted me to buy £250 worth of iTunes vouchers and send them the serial numbers! Feeling utterly distressed and fed up with their tactics, I attempted to cancel the clearly fraudulent loan. In response, I was informed I would face a cancellation fee of £150, with a waiting period of a month for it to process. When I confronted them about their blatant scam, I was met with foul language and told to ‘F**K OFF’-that it was evidently better to be a criminal than to be ‘thick’, along with a mocking farewell before they hung up. Now, I find myself entangled in a police investigation for fraud. What a nightmare!
