I received a rather alarming call from the number 0161 752 0778. The caller, claiming to represent HMRC, was insistent that I’m somehow implicated in tax fraud and that a warrant is out for my arrest. They urged me to press 1 if I wanted to speak to someone, warning ominously that failure to do so would result in my imminent arrest. Sounds utterly dubious, doesn’t it?
