Got a call from a bloke with a super official-sounding recorded voice, telling me I'd been flagged by HMRC for tax fraud and that I'd be nicked straight away if I didn’t press 1 right now. The number was 0161 7498164 and it came through at 13:27 on February 5th, 2021. Honestly, it sounded pretty legit, especially since I’m not too great with doing my tax returns! Funny thing was, they rang my brand new mobile that hardly anyone knows the number of.
