BUT if you’re up for it, here’s what I do - when I’m free, I hide my number and keep ringing these scam callers repeatedly. So if you’ve got a bit of time, just keep calling them from a blocked number and mess with their heads!

I got a call from Help Your Claim, or HYC as they say. When I rang them back, I told them to take my number off their list or I’d have to report them to the Legal Ombudsman for cold calling me without permission.

If you happen to answer their call and have a spare moment, why not have a bit of fun? Spin them a yarn about how you're in the middle of transferring them to someone else. Just keep them hanging on, and after a good while, casually inform them that their number isn't in service. Have a giggle at their expense, throw in a few cheeky expletives, then simply hang up! It's all in good jest, isn’t it? 😄

Got an automated message saying they couldn’t put me through just as I was hanging up, then a guy’s voice came on asking who I was. My call blocker is full, so that's the only option left. After reading these posts, it’s clear lots of others have the same issue, so I’m thinking of going back to the old school way of using answerphone messages on the landline if email isn’t an option. Really pushy and rude PPI callers - I kept telling them politely but firmly that I wasn’t interested, yet the bloke just kept talking over me, pushing his sales talk. When I finally said, "You’re not hearing me right? I said no thanks," he shot back with, "No mate, you’re the one not listening." How do these companies think it’s okay to treat people like this on cold calls? I told him I hoped the call was being recorded and he’d get in trouble with his boss. After that, he just went quiet and left the phone open until I hung up.

Got a bloke ringing from Help You Claim, proper pushy. He said if I gave him my name, address and DOB, he could make a PPI claim for me, and also asked which banks I’ve had accounts with. I told him to stop calling me - loads of calls over the last year but usually I couldn’t answer before it stopped ringing. Still, he kept going on with his spiel after I said I wouldn’t share any personal info and wasn’t interested.
