Got a call from a guy named Michael with a South African accent. He already knew my name but wouldn’t say what company he was with or his last name. Claimed he was ringing from a call centre in London, but the number was actually from Manchester. When I pointed that out, he just ended the call. He was asking if I had any debts and said he could assist. Sounded fishy to me.

This time they called themselves the 'Emissions team'. Probably trying to take advantage of the whole Diesel emissions scandal where you might be able to get money back for car makers lying about exhaust emissions or the newer diesel vehicles. There is actually a legit website where you can file a claim plus I saw a TV advert about it too.

Got a call from this number earlier, they said they were from the Diesel Emissions Team about some claim. Thing is, I haven’t had a diesel car in over 20 years, so I was pretty sure it was a scam. To make it sound more legit, the caller also mentioned that calls are recorded for training purposes.
