I got a call from someone named "Ella" saying there was some kind of security issue with my PC. I just played along for a bit and then ended the call. Honestly, how do these people expect anyone to fall for that? Proper mugs.

I answered the call and all I could hear was silence. Reading through the earlier comments, I’m really relieved I didn’t end up talking to a scammer. Big thanks to everyone who shared their experiences! :)

These lot were trying to trick me, with all these dodgy background sounds like a noisy office or summat. I kept being as rude as possible and eventually they just hung up on me. Proper scamming scoundrels if you ask me.

Sounds like a total scam to me. The call just sat there for a bit, then switched over to some bloke with a Filipino accent who claimed to be from BT saying there’s a problem with my line. He asked me to turn on my computer so they could sort it out. I told him to jog on.

My wife is battling terminal cancer, and I’m taking care of her full-time. We keep the phone close just in case of emergency, so noisy, unwelcome calls are the last thing we need right now.

I just got a ring from this number, but when I picked up, there was nobody there, just a “goodbye” before the line went dead. We’re listed as ex-directory and are on the TPS, so I’m not sure how this call got through. Tried calling back and all I got was three beeps. I’ll be reporting it to BT for sure.

some bloke rang me claiming he was from bt openreach, saying there was an issue with my pc. i was like, yeah right. he asked if i could switch it on, and i told him, do you take me for a idiot or what? he said yes, seriously. so i told him to jog on and warned anyone older or more vulnerable not to believe these idiots or switch anything on. this number’s dodgy, definitely a scam.

I got a phone call from a lady with an Indian accent, saying she was from Openreach and that my computer had some kind of security issue. When I asked her how she could possibly know that and asked for proof of who she was, she said it was because I was on Windows. Problem is, I don't even use Windows! As soon as I mentioned that, she hung up on me. Definitely a SCAM.

Since 11/10/2017, I've been getting loads of calls from this number. Whenever I answer, the line goes dead immediately. When I try 1471, it says the number's unknown. Just another annoying nuisance from some dodgy folks, it seems.

Got a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with BT Open Reach’s tech team. They told me they’d been watching my phone line and said there was an issue with my internet connection. When they asked if I was aware of any problems, I said I was just to see what their next move would be. Then they tried to get me to log into my computer so they could “secure it against hackers.” I flat out refused, mentioning my neighbour had done the same and ended up having all her money stolen. I told them I’d ring BT myself to verify it, and when I did, BT confirmed this number was pretending to be them. If anyone else gets a call like this, please report it to BT so they can warn others and stop these scammers.

Just got a ring from someone claiming to be BT saying my computer has an issue. This is the first time I’ve had anything like this, we only ever get calls from two family members on our landline. Really curious how they managed to get hold of my number since we never share it with anyone.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from BT Openreach. They said there was some fault with my phone line caused by a virus on my computer. Thing is, the number they're calling has no computer linked to it at all. They've rung me about 4 times over the past few days. Honestly, it's getting really annoying. When I told them I don’t even have a computer, they just hung up on me - clearly just a bunch of con artists.

I got a few calls on my landline, looked like they were autodialled. The number showed a Manchester area code, but on my phone's call display it said “international” - reckon it might be a spoofed number?

This number keeps ringing us up, claiming there's something wrong with our internet and offering to 'help' if we’re sitting at our computer. Naturally, we didn't fall for it - sounds like a sneaky way to get malware onto your device. Fingers crossed BT can track down who’s behind it and pass the details to the police so these scammers get caught. They really need to be locked up for a good while. This kind of nonsense just has to stop.

Got a ring from this number earlier today, 03/10/17. When I didn't pick up, my answerphone kicked in and the caller hung up straight away. Seems fishy to me, if they dont bother to leave a message then it's probably dodgy. I wouldnt trust it, reckon it's either some scam or an unwanted sales call, both of which I'll steer clear of. I never share any personal details with these callers, just in case.

I got a call from a bloke who had a pretty thick accent, said he was Brian Taylor from BT Openreach or something. There was loads of noise like he was in one of those call centres in the background. He started telling me my computer and internet were throwing up errors and asked me to switch my computer on. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Got a call from this number at around 9:06 in the morning on 25th September 2017. The lady said her name was Julie, but her accent was so strong I struggled to catch what she was saying after she mentioned B.T. internet. Something about "your computer's active right now" and then something about issues with my last two sessions - that part was confusing. The last thing I did on the internet was banking, which made me quite uneasy. I told her to call back another time. Is it just me, or does this sound like a scam? Should I be changing my passwords or anything?
