Got a call off someone calling herself Officer Lisa Roberts from HMRC. She said I or my solicitor need to contact them ASAP or there’d be serious trouble. Then she ended with “have a nice day” which was a bit weird 😂. Honestly, it’s pretty scary, especially for older folks who might not know it’s a scam.

Had a right bother with a dodgy call claiming to be from HMRC regarding tax evasion, clearly from a call centre with an Indian accent. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of engaging with these blokes - just tell them to clear off! Also, make sure to report it to the BT Fraud Helpline. Mind you, they probably won’t lift a finger to help, as they likely profit from these dodgy calls. The number that rang me was 01616961392, pretending to be from the Manchester HMRC offices. What a carry on!

Total con artists! They rang me up threatening to take legal steps, so I rang back and told them I was from Watchdog and called them scammers. I gave them a right mouthful, and they just kept repeating stuff like a broken record. Honestly, I feel bad for anyone who falls for this rubbish thinking it’s legit. Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from HMRC, sounded proper menacing saying there’d be serious consequences if I didn’t call back to speak to their agents. When I rang the number, the person said it was about my brother’s tax returns. Told them he’d recently died and asked if they could speak to our solicitor about his estate. They refused and when I pushed why, they told me to watch my tone. After I told them I looked the number up and it was a scam, they just hung up. That message on voicemail would be terrifying for older folks to get.

These lot seem to be working round the clock, switching numbers every day. Getting abusive and blocking you seems to be their usual thing. Honestly, wasting their time actually helps - I use auto redial apps on my phone and sometimes just keep them chatting for ages.
