I get calls from numbers similar to this all the time - usually they’re scams! I’d say this one’s probably the same, really. Best thing I do is just block them straight away!

SCAM ALERT! They claimed there was an arrest warrant out for me because of some huge tax debt. I was stunned, so I told them I actually lead HMRC's fraud unit and that I was recording the conversation and tracking the number. Right after that, they suddenly decided to hang up and said it was all a mix-up. Honestly, I plan to keep bothering these scoundrels whenever I get the chance. They're absolute rubbish and should be stopped. Don't bother picking up if they ring you!

Got a voicemail from some automated voice saying it was Officer Rachel Todd from HMRC, telling me to ring back straight away. Clearly a dodgy call, so I just wiped the message and won’t be responding.

Just got the same voicemail message myself. Most of us can spot a dodgy phone call or email, but there’s loads of folks, especially older ones, who don’t get it. My elderly parents have had calls from people saying they owe cash to HMRC. Luckily, they’re smart enough to clock it when told to "meet us in Morrison’s car park" that it’s a con. Best thing is to ignore and block it, but definitely make sure you report it as well.

I got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I had unpaid taxes and they were gonna sue me if I didn't pay up. I called back because I really do have some HMRC stuff going on right now, so I thought it was legit. Turns out it was a scam and now I'm just so annoyed that I fell for it 😤

Got a call from someone saying they’re Chris Jones from HMRC, same story as others I’ve had before. Said there’d been some miscalculation and everything’s heading to court unless I sort it out - usual nonsense. I told him straight it was a scam and to stop wasting my time!

I called the number back and they told me they were from HMRC and customs, saying I’d made a mistake with my taxes from last year. They went on about my case going to court and claimed they’d freeze all my bank accounts, cards, and even my driving licence. Then they asked if I could pay anything right away to stop the police from coming to arrest me and hold me until my court date. It sounded dodgy, so I just hung up and blocked the number straight away. No way the real HMRC would speak to you like that. This is definitely just a scam trying to get cash out of people.

Got a call from someone in America claiming I owed nearly £5000 in back taxes and threatened I'd be arrested if I didn’t pay immediately. I gave him Judge Rinder’s phone number and told him to sort it out with my judge. Complete rubbish and felt daft for even falling for that scam. Total waste of time!

01616946471 - I ignored the call, then got a message from some automated American lady saying she was HMRC and that if my lawyer or legal rep didn’t get in touch right away, I’d face serious trouble. I called back and an unknown bloke with an African accent answered. I told him it was a total scam, but he just said “it’s not a scam.” I wasn’t having any of it, told him off proper and warned him not to ring me again or I’d report it. Blocked the number straight away. TOTAL SCAMMERS. STAY AWAY.
