Somebody rang saying they had pictures of a crash I was involved in - complete nonsense. When I challenged them on it, they started backing out of their story. I warned them I’d report them to the cops, and then they just hung up.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent, saying I’d been in a car crash. When I started asking questions, he seemed to get quite annoyed. Ended up just hanging up on him. Total scam.

Got a call from someone saying they knew about a recent accident I’d been involved in, said it wasn’t my fault. When I asked where they got my info from, they mentioned some ‘motor insurance bureau’. I then asked them to name my insurer and they couldn’t, got rude and told me to ‘buzz off’. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

I got a call earlier today claiming I was involved in some sort of crash.

Someone was going around pretending they’d locked my computer and kept nagging me to ring a certain number to get it unlocked. They kept pestering me to call them so they could ‘fix’ it. In the end, just shutting the computer down and turning it back on sorted everything out - no need to call anyone at all.

On the morning of September 29th, my dad fell victim to a scam involving this number. Some fraudster managed to gain remote access to his laptop and spun a tale that he’d have to fork out £300 upfront just to temporarily lift some imaginary block, followed by an outrageous £800 to get the issue sorted for good. Being 76, this whole experience has been shocking for him. They frightened him into believing that he had all sorts of blockers on his accounts, to the point where he was hesitant to even switch off his laptop!

This evening I got a really loud popup on my laptop telling me it had been hacked and to ring “Microsoft right away, don’t turn off your computer.” There was no way to close the message, and it said my device was locked! I rang my work’s IT support straight away, as it’s a company laptop, and they told me it’s just a total SCAM. Apparently, this kind of thing is designed to freak you out so you’ll call the number they give. FYI, Microsoft doesn’t have call centres in Manchester! So please, just don’t ring those numbers!

I got a warning on my laptop saying I had a virus, even though I had antivirus software running. It told me to ring a certain number, but something didn’t feel right. So, instead of calling that number, I contacted my usual computer guy who checked it out and told me it was definitely a scam. He sorted out the virus for me. The warning said it was from Microsoft and looked pretty convincing. I've seen similar scams before, so I was cautious this time. Just watch out for these kind of tricks, they’re sneaky!
