I got a call on my landline from a bloke with what sounded like an Indian accent, saying he was from Virgin. I actually am a Virgin Media and Virgin Mobile customer, so I thought, hmm, maybe legit. He claimed my internet had been hacked and told me to quickly download an app called ‘my desk’ from the Play Store to fix it. He was pretty pushy and called me early on a Saturday morning. I looked up the number later and saw it was registered in Manchester. Feels like he was trying to get remote access to my account or something dodgy like that.
