I got a call and they just dropped the line straight away. When I tried ringing back, there was a recorded message saying something like, "thank you for calling Connects, we will put you through to the next adviser available." I just ended up hanging up.

Didn't say a word when they rang, so I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

The connection was really bad, I couldn’t catch a word she was saying. I told her I didn’t get what she was going on about, then she just told me to buzz off. That was quite rude, so I shot back the same. I usually pick up these calls since I know they’re scams and I like to stop them from tricking folks who might be more easily fooled.

They stay quiet for around half a minute before just cutting the call off. I usually get a couple of annoying calls daily. Most of them, apart from this one, pretend to be from BT but they sound like scammers with a thick Indian or Pak*stan accent.

Got a call on my landline from an Asian guy saying he was David, asking how I was doing. I told him I’d just woken up and to not ring me anymore. Then, that same day, someone else called saying he was John from Green Energy. Told him the same thing - don’t call again.

If you’re with BT and using Call Protect, you'll see this number gets blocked automatically, so BT must have marked it as dodgy. Seems like whoever’s behind it changes their scam every now and then, like some call centre pushing whatever scam is popular at the time. For the rest of us not on BT, best just to hang up and give them a mouthful. They can sod right off!

Got a call from someone saying they were from my electricity company, telling me I had to renew something. When I agreed, they just ended the call straight away. Pretty sure it’s a scam, best to just ignore these calls!

My BT call blocking stopped their call from getting through, so it didn’t ring. After a while, they left a message repeating “hello? hello? hello?” like they were desperate or something. Pretty annoying!

They called me up saying I could get a free gas boiler, which would have been great except we don’t even have gas service here. When they tried to “verify my identity,” it smelled like they were just fishing for my private info. I fed them rubbish answers and then just ended the call. Definitely blocked their number.

Got a call from someone named Jordan who said he was from some kind of UK benefits dept, offering a free boiler to people on benefits. When I told him that there's no official agency called that, and asked how he could know if anyone was actually claiming benefits in the house, he didn’t really get it. Kept pushing the same line like it made sense or something. Proper dodgy, if you ask me.

Got a call from some replacement boiler company, and I told them flat out I don’t have a boiler with them. I warned if they ring about this again, I’ll be taking legal action for harassment - it’s basically stalking and totally illegal. They just hung up after that.

I got a call from someone saying they're with the "UK benefits department" and that the government was offering me a "free heating system". Thing is, I’ve never heard of any department like that, and it seems highly unlikely the government would ring up random businesses to hand out free heating stuff. Feels like a total scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with ‘green energy’, asking what I use to heat my house since apparently I’m eligible for some ‘tree’ (not sure what that’s about) kit. Thought I’d have a bit of fun and mess with them, so I said I heat my place by lighting newspapers in the lounge centre with matches. He was like, ‘Newspaper?’ I was trying to keep him talking for a laugh, but then he just hung up on me, which was quite confusing since I actually kind of need help (see above, haha). Guess I’ll just wait for another ‘helpful’ company to ring.
