Like others have said, the person calling sounded like they were from India. When I tried calling back, I dialled 141 first to hide my number, and I got a recorded message saying something about “you have been called by Niftel” before it just ended. From what I found, Niftel Communications Ltd is probably managed by a bloke called Farukh Shah, who’s Indian. You can easily find loads of info on him online, plus if you check the company search site (it’s free), you can see his other business ties and even other phone numbers linked to him.

I've been using the BT4600 Advanced Call Blocker for nearly a year now. It records all the spam calls in its memory but never rings when they come through. Unless we have the number saved or the caller tells us who they are and we choose to answer, the call doesn't get through. I seriously recommend this device - it’s blocked loads of pest calls from irritating people trying to bother us.

The moment I pick up, they just end the call! They ring me two or three times daily and since I've recently had hip surgery, getting to my landline quickly isn’t always possible [and I can’t see who’s calling before it goes dead!!]. Got a call from "National Grid Energy" claiming they’d fit a free boiler for businesses without mains gas. They dropped the call right after introducing themselves (or what they said was their name). Could be linked to "National Energy Grid Ltd," which is run by Thomas David Shaw from Stockton on Tees. Or maybe it’s Sukraj Singh Saini from Oldbury, who used to run "National Green Energy." Once I find out who’s actually behind it, I’ll update you all. I’ve got the addresses for both anyway!

Wouldn't take me off their call list, wouldn't say what company they were from so I could get in touch properly, and wouldn’t tell me how they even got my info. Got a call from someone saying "Free Energy Grants" offering help with new boilers and loft insulation. They asked if I was on any benefits, I said no and they just hung up. To the person who mentioned the Mayor of Manchester being responsible for these calls unlike Birmingham, that’s not quite right. The Mayors don’t have control over this stuff, it's actually Ofcom and the ICO who deal with these calls. Have you bothered filing a complaint with them?
