This scammer claimed to be from Microsoft and proposed a complimentary inspection of my computer. Even after I turned him down, he had the audacity to ring me four additional times before I finally decided to block his number. Quite the nuisance!

On 28th June 2021 at 10:18, some woman rang an older, vulnerable man and really shook him up by asking for his bank info. She even knew the name of his carer or friend who helps him out - not sure how she got that. It was pretty upsetting for him.

Some woman with an Indian accent called, asked if she could talk to me by name. When I said yes, she just cut the call right away! Strange behaviour.

I just got a phone call from 01616520845 earlier today on 30th June 2021 at around half nine in the morning. The chap on the other end had an Indian accent and was rambling on about my Windows licence running out and suggesting that my account had been compromised. What was rather concerning was that he mentioned an old address of mine. I decided to keep him engaged for a bit and eventually directed him to my IT department. He claimed to be calling from Manchester. Quite the entertaining exchange it turned out to be!

Just got a ring from 01616520845 today, 30th June 21 around half ten in the morning. The bloke sounded Indian and was going on about my Windows license running out and my account being at risk. Weirdly, he mentioned an old address I used to live at. I didn’t just hang up though, had a natter with him for ages before I passed him over to our IT team. He was pretty vague about what info he wanted, kept pushing me to agree to some licence renewal or something. Proper dodgy!

This number 01616520845 called about my computer, claimed to be my son or maybe son-in-law, something like that. I just said thanks and ended the call straight away.

Got a call from someone called Alex who already knew my name and address. He asked if I'd been getting emails from them about Windows security stuff. I told him I actually use Linux, and he just said "Good for you" before ending the call.

Got a call from some bloke with a heavy accent, the line was really bad. He kept muttering stuff about my computer, sounded like he didn’t even want to bother talking properly.

Got a call from 01616520845, and my missus picked up. Some bloke, sounding foreign, claimed he was ringing from the “computer licensing department” or something. She told him she didn’t have a computer, then he asked if she had an iPad. Nope, said she. Then a laptop? No again. Mobile phone? Still no. After that, he apologised for wasting her time, and she just said “No worries, have a nice day” and ended the call.

Got a call from this number and the person was asking for me by name. She claimed to be from the "Computer Licencing Department". I told her straight up that I had no clue what she was on about and to quit cold calling me. Figured next up would be them asking for money.

I ignored the call since the number was unknown to me; if it was important, they'd have probably left a voicemail by now.

This bloke claimed his name was John but I doubt that's true, he had an Asian accent. He somehow knew my name and where I lived. When I asked where he got the info from, he just kept saying he worked at some computer centre. I told him the calls were borderline harassment and then I ended the call.

Received a call claiming to be from "Windows Licensing," asserting that my Windows licence was on the verge of expiring and that I'd be unable to use my computer unless I coughed up an astronomical fee to renew it. When I casually mentioned how delightful it would be to be free from the drudgery of checking emails and wading through endless spam, the chap promptly disconnected the call! What a win! 😊

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, telling me my account was about to be shut down. I asked him if he felt alright doing stuff like this and whether his family knew what he was up to. He just looked confused and said he didn’t get it. Then I asked if he'd rather have my credit card info straight away or if he’d like to access my PC to fix the problem. He just ended the call right away!

Got a call from a number that looked like it was from Manchester, but it was actually from abroad. Pretty obvious a scam right from the start. If you even listen to what they say (and I’m being kind calling them people), you’re just asking to get scammed. Definitely don’t trust what they’re on about, it’s all lies to trick you.

Got a call at 11:46 but no voicemail or anything. I called back and an automated voice said I’d rung the wrong number and to check and try again. Sounds like it might be a scam to me. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.
