Watch out for these guys. They’re some third-party outfit working for Google, supposed to review your Google Ads. But honestly, they just want you to spend more so they can earn commissions. My client’s account was doing great until they made all the ‘recommended’ tweaks - it ended up wrecked. Don’t trust everything they say.

I’m pretty sure this is actually the real Google Ads support. They really act like they’re untouchable. It feels like the endless pestering of customers will never stop. They push you to change your ad campaigns in ways that make you spend loads more money. A lot of these folks only get half a year of training and stick rigidly to a script. Honestly, they probably don’t even understand what Google want them to do themselves. It’s just one massive case of corporate greed.

If you get a call like this, it’s probably from your Google AdWords account manager. They usually ring from your existing account to offer some advice on improving it. I’ve had quite a few chats with mine and picked up some handy tips each time. Usually, the calls don’t last longer than 15 minutes and honestly, I think it’s worth the time. This number called me the other day, turns out it’s from Google’s ad support team. When you go beyond a specific spend on Google ads monthly, they assign you a dedicated account manager. Apparently, Google switches these managers every three months, which I guess is just their rule. The caller left a voicemail on our answering machine and the info he gave, like the account details and numbers, was stuff only a genuine Google worker could know. I’m pretty sure this number is legit.

I’ve been looking into these calls and it turns out these are actually approved by Google, but done through their contractors. They have full permission from Google to get into AdWords accounts and ring up the owners directly. The whole idea seems to be to use some insider knowledge about how AdWords works to push the account holder’s budget, with Google’s green light. I’ve checked loads of 0161 and 020 numbers linked to Google on sites like who-calls-me.co.uk and many of them have been searched for over 20,000 times. This feels like a massive scam run by a global company that seems to act like it’s untouchable by any international laws.
