Phone number ☎️ 0161619536 👆 is reported as a scam where callers claim you have a large PPI rebate waiting, often mentioning official sounding names and people. They tell you the money will be sent as a cheque but insist you pay an upfront fee, like £200 for VAT or an iTunes card. The callers sometimes have foreign accents and seem to know your personal details, which makes it more convincing. Many victims get caught out by the offer of easy money but end up losing their upfront payment. It’s a common tactic targeting people unaware they haven’t applied for any such refunds. Overall, it’s linked to fraud and attempts to trick people into handing over money.

8 yearsSo, this bloke called David Conner, who sounded kinda Asian even though his name was proper English, told me I was owed a PPI refund from the financial ombudsman for about £3857. Then he said some mate of his, Adam Chappel, would ring me and sort out a cheque, but I just needed to send over a £200 ITUNE card first. These cheeky scammers are well organised and sadly, some poor folks do fall for it.David ConnerAdam Chappel8 yearsEarlier today, I received a phone call from this number. The person on the line introduced herself and seemed to possess all sorts of details about me. She claimed I had a substantial PPI refund waiting (which was odd, as I hadn’t inquired about PPI at all). Then she mentioned that a cheque would be delivered to my home, but I needed to cough up £200 for VAT upfront first. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!Submit Your Own Report (161619536)
