I received a call that was supposedly from Virgin Media, and the woman on the other end introduced herself as Maria. She started asking a barrage of questions regarding my interest in subscribing to their broadband service. Initially, everything seemed above board, but then she requested my sort code and bank account details. Although she may have seemed legitimate, the request for my financial information over the phone raised some serious red flags for me!
